Five nights after Night of Champions, the 683rd edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. For the first time in eight months, WWE Hall of Famer “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge would appear on SmackDown as the eleven-time World Champion gives his take on the anger issues between new WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan! Also, after Booker T made the last minute decision to reinstate the Brogue Kick mere seconds before the World Heavyweight Title match at Night of Champions, a decision that would end up costing Alberto Del Rio the World Heavyweight Championship, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus teams with “The Viper” Randy Orton to face “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler.

Detailed Results
As promised, SmackDown kicks off with WWE Hall of Famer and eleven-time World Champion “The Rated-R Superstar” Edge! Edge says that it was eighteen months ago that he was forced to retire as the World Heavyweight Champion and things have come full circle as he has been able to enjoy the WWE as a fan again, not just as a performer. Edge continues that he has seen some crazy things in the WWE, but nothing like what is going on between new WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan. Edge says that, as a twelve-time tag team champion, he knows what it takes to succeed in the tag team division. Edge is then interrupted by one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Daniel Bryan, who says that “they” did not become the tag team champions because he is the tag team champions. Bryan then repeatedly shouts, “I’m the tag team champions” before saying that he is an “anchor” and he is one with his “emotions”. Bryan then says that Dr. Shelby has taught them that their anger often peaks in the “heat of the moment”. Bryan then asks Edge if Edge thinks about the pain he and his ex-wife, Vickie Guerrero, have caused each other. Bryan follows this up by asking if anyone truly “knows” Edge, telling Edge to go back to “acting” and go back to “retirement”. Bryan then says that there is “nothing” that he or the fans can do to make him snap, but Edge takes this as a challenge, taunting Bryan until Bryan begins to scream “no”.

The proceedings are then interrupted by the other half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Kane, who proclaims, “I’m the tag team champions”. This sparks another shouting match between Kane and Daniel Bryan with Edge screaming at them to get them to stop with Kane offering some “relaxation exercises” for Edge. The Hall of Famer then begins to lose his cool, saying that he understands how Daniel Bryan can transform into being one with his feelings, but he cannot comprehend how Kane, with all of the dastardly things that Kane has done over the years, has become anger-free. Edge reminds Kane that he stole Kane’s wife and Kane broke up his wedding to Kane’s ex-wife by tombstoning the priest, adding that he has even tortured Kane’s father, Paul Bearer. Edge asks Kane if he remembers all of the horrible things they have done to one another and a seething Kane says that, yes, he does remember all of those events, saying that he should “rectify” it right now. Edge then takes his jacket off and looks like he is ready to fight, but Kane holds out his arms, wanting to “hug it out” with his former rival with “The Rated-R Superstar” reluctantly embracing Kane! This sends Daniel Bryan into a shouting fit, but Kane and Edge invite Bryan to join the hugging. However, Damien Sandow interrupts, saying that Kane and Daniel Bryan’s attempts to “hug it out” is an “abomination”, putting down the fans for supporting it. Edge then cuts Sandow, daring the intellectual to come to the ring and face off against one of the tag team champions. Edge then polls the fans on if Sandow should face Kane or Daniel Bryan with the fans showing their support for Kane and, shortly after this, the match was made official!

Per the orders of SmackDown General Manager Booker T, the opening match of the night saw one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, “The Big Red Monster” Kane, with Daniel Bryan in his corner, go one-on-one with “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow. During the match, Daniel Bryan distracts his tag team partner, allowing Damien Sandow to hit the straightjacket neckbreaker on Kane en route to picking up a huge upset victory over “The Big Red Monster”!

Backstage, an irate argument between Kane and Daniel Bryan is settled by Dr. Shelby, who makes an agreement that, if Kane agrees to not rip Daniel Bryan’s beard off, then Bryan will give Kane his title belt back. Dr. Shelby also says that, since Bryan cost Kane his match, then he will talk to Booker T and get a match for Daniel Bryan.

The new Divas Champion Eve was a guest on commentary as former champion Layla went one-on-one with Natalya. In the end, it was Layla hitting the Lay Out on Natalya en route to picking up the win.

After defeating Alberto Del Rio at Night of Champions to retain the World Heavyweight Title, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus teamed with “The Viper” Randy Orton to face the team of Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner. At the end of a chaotic match, Dolph Ziggler would try to use the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase, but Sheamus would counter, hitting the Brogue Kick on “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” en route to picking up the win for himself and Randy Orton.

After costing his tag team partner, Kane, his match against Damien Sandow, WWE Tag Team Champion Daniel Bryan went one-on-one with Cody Rhodes. During the match, Daniel Bryan would try to lock in the No Lock on Cody Rhodes, but Kane would come out, distracting Daniel Bryan long enough for Rhodes to hit the Cross Rhodes for the win.

Backstage, a bickering Kane & Daniel Bryan are interrupted by the men who defeated them, Damien Sandow & Cody Rhodes, who call the team a joke. However, the WWE Tag Team Champions get on the same page to challenge Sandow & Rhodes to a tag match!

“The Funkasaurus” was in action on SmackDown as Brodus Clay went one-on-one with Heath Slater. During the match, Jinder Mahal & Drew McIntyre inexplicably rush the ring, attacking Brodus Clay! Mahal and McIntyre are then joined by Slater as an apparent plan comes together between the three Superstars. The attack then concludes with the Future Shock DDT by McIntyre and the Camel Clutch by Mahal. What is the reason behind this new alliance and why have they targeted Brodus Clay?

The United States Champion was in action on SmackDown as Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in his corner, went one-on-one with former champion Santino Marella in a non-title match. During the match, Aksana would get inadvertently knocked into the ring, which distracts the referee and keeps him from making the count for Cesaro. Moments later, Santino is able to catch Cesaro with a roll-up to pick up the non-title win. After the match, Cesaro shows no concern for Aksana before the United States Champion abruptly breaks up with the woman that brought Cesaro to the WWE!

With Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel, Jimmy & Jey Uso, and The Prime Time Players surrounding the ring, the main event of the evening saw WWE Tag Team Champions Kane & Daniel Bryan face Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow in a non-title match. During the match, a frustrated Cody Rhodes would attack Kane with a steel chair, bringing an end to the match. After the match, Kane and Daniel Bryan would get on the same page and, instead of using the chair himself, Bryan would hand the chair over to his tag team partner as Kane uses it on the mid-section of Rhodes, sending Rhodes from the ring. Then, as the tag team division looks on, Kane & Daniel Bryan take turns waffling Damien Sandow with steel chair shots as both men smile at each other! Kane then retries the three tag teams as Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, Darren Young, and Titus O’Neil all feel the effects of the tag team champions’ “therapy”. Then, with the tag team division in ruins, the WWE Tag Team Champions stand tall and unified before the bickering resumes again!

WWE Smackdown 14 September 2012 Results

WWE SmackDown Results: September 14, 2012

Just two nights before Night of Champions, the 682nd edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. After Sheamus utilized the banned Brogue Kick after his match against David Otunga on RAW, SmackDown General Manager Booker T laid down the law for the World Heavyweight Champion, stating that, if Sheamus uses the Brogue Kick at any time while he is still conducting his investigation, then Sheamus will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship! In his attempt to assist in the permanent banishment of the Brogue Kick, the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio, has promised that he has someone in his “back pocket” that will testify about the danger and brutality of the Brogue Kick.
Match Results
  • Non-Title: Sin Cara def. The Miz by roll-up.
  • Kane def. Kofi Kingston by pin following the chokeslam.
  • Randy Orton def. Tensai (with Sakamoto) by pin following the RKO.
  • Kaitlyn def. Beth Phoenix by pin following a neckbreaker.
  • Non-Title: Sheamus def. Daniel Bryan by submission to the Texas Cloverleaf.
Detailed Results
SmackDown kicks off with Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga, and Ricardo Rodriguez with Otunga and Rodriguez both sporting neck braces. Del Rio gives credit to SmackDown General Manager Booker T for banning Sheamus’ Brogue Kick. Del Rio then allows Ricardo Rodriguez to speak as Rodriguez thanks his fans, his mother, and even his Chihuahua. Otunga then states that RAW General Manager AJ Lee does not understand that he is an “officer of the court”, calling her actions “irresponsible”. Otunga continues that Sheamus is a “reckless hooligan” and putting him in a match against Sheamus was the actions of an “unbalanced” individual. Otunga then claims that his vertebrae might be “ruptured”, but says that, just like Rodriguez, he will “recover handsomely”. Del Rio says that Otunga and Rodriguez are not the only ones who have suffered from the Brogue Kick. Del Rio then shows footage from last year’s Night of Champions pay-per-view where Sheamus used the Brogue Kick on Christian. Christian then appears, via satellite, saying that he does not like Del Rio and he is one of the “toughest guys” in the WWE, calling Del Rio a “weasel”. Christian continues that he is not doing this for Del Rio, but he is doing it for the other Superstars, saying that since getting hit with the Brogue Kick last year, he has not been the same, even having to undergo shoulder surgery due to nerve damage. Christian then says that he has missed almost a year of his career, saying that, while he supports Sheamus and his accomplishments, he has to agree that the Brogue Kick should be banned permanently. Before Christian can continue, David Otunga cuts the feed off.

Another victim of the Brogue Kick, Daniel Bryan, then makes his way to the ring, urging the fans to not chant “yes” at him because he is just out there to say thanks. Bryan says that he, too, has been a victim of the Brogue Kick and, while he does not have a goat face, if he did, it would be Sheamus’ fault. Bryan then reveals that Booker T has granted him a WrestleMania rematch between him and Sheamus, saying that he did not ask for a rematch because of the banishment of the Brogue Kick. Irritated by the fans, Bryan screams that Sheamus caught him by surprise at WrestleMania and that will not happen again. World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus then comes out, saying that Bryan did not lose because of the Brogue Kick, Bryan lost because of him. Sheamus then says that, after he defeats Daniel Bryan on SmackDown and Del Rio at Night of Champions, he will prove that, those who fail to learn from the past, are doomed to repeat it. Sheamus then drapes the injured neck of David Otunga over the top rope, tossing Otunga’s neck brace to the fans!

The Intercontinental Champion was in action on SmackDown as The Miz went one-on-one with “The International Sensation” Sin Cara in a non-title match. In the end, it was Sin Cara pulling off a big win, rolling The Miz up to pick up the win over the Intercontinental Champion.

Backstage, an interview with Intercontinental Champion The Miz is interrupted by Cody Rhodes, who says that he wants the Intercontinental Title back. Rey Mysterio then enters the scene, saying that he pinned The Miz last week, so he deserves a title shot. The man that defeated The Miz moments earlier, Sin Cara, then points at the title, expressing his interest. SmackDown Senior Advisor Theodore Long then informs The Miz that SmackDown General Manager Booker T has ruled that The Miz will defend the Intercontinental Title at Night of Champions in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Sin Cara, Rey Mysterio, and Cody Rhodes!

Backstage, Dr. Shelby settles an argument between Kane and Daniel Bryan, saying that he gave them both balls, so that they can squeeze the balls to relieve stress. Both men then squeeze their balls and Kane tells Bryan that his is “bigger”.

Two nights before he and R-Truth defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against Kane & Daniel Bryan, WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston went one-on-one with “The Big Red Monster” Kane. In the end, it was Kane planting Kofi Kingston with a chokeslam en route to picking up the win. After the match, Dr. Shelby would appear on the staging area, glaring at Kane with disappointment. Kane responds by coming back into the ring and it looks like Kane is going to deliver another chokeslam to Kofi, but instead, Kane hugs Kofi!

Before he faces Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions, “The Viper” Randy Orton went one-on-one with the destructive super heavyweight known as Tensai, with Sakamoto in his corner. In the end, it was Randy Orton hitting the RKO on Tensai en route to picking up the win. After the match, Dolph Ziggler’s business advisor, Vickie Guerrero, comes out, saying that she advised Dolph to take the night off. Vickie then says that Dolph will defeat Orton this Sunday and “The Viper” will never be a World Champion again. Orton says that Vickie is wrong before saying that, since he is talking to Vickie, then that means one thing. Orton then quickly turns around to spot Dolph Ziggler ready to strike, but Orton looks right at Dolph, making “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” think twice about an ambush as Dolph quickly retreats.

Before he defends the United States Title against an opponent that will be determined via a pre-show battle royal prior to Night of Champions, United States Champion Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in tow, expresses his unhappiness with not knowing who his #1 Contender will be. Tyson Kidd then interrupts, saying that Cesaro will be a former champion this Sunday. This sparks a brawl between Cesaro and Kidd, but Cesaro tosses Kidd to the outside. However, the United States Champion is then confronted by a much bigger threat in the form of Brodus Clay, who gets an assist from Tyson Kidd before hitting the Funkasplash on Cesaro. With Brodus Clay, Tyson Kidd, and a host of other Superstars vying for contention, who will Antonio Cesaro have to contend with at Night of Champions?

“The Bareknuckle Brawler” Wade Barrett makes an appearance on SmackDown, saying that many people did not understand what he meant when he said that “Wade Barrett is open for business” last week. Barrett then offers another cryptic message, saying that he will give one lucky individual a “sample” next week.

Two nights before she challenges Layla for the Divas Title at Night of Champions, Kaitlyn would go one-on-one with Beth Phoenix on SmackDown. In the end, it was Kaitlyn hitting a neckbreaker on Beth Phoenix en route to picking up the win.

Then it was time for the main event as, in a rematch from WrestleMania, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus would go one-on-one with Daniel Bryan in a non-title match. In the end, it was Sheamus picking up a surprising win, actually making submission expert Daniel Bryan tap out to the Texas Cloverleaf!

Get Well Soon.
Six nights before Night of Champions, the 1007th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Fifteen years ago in Montreal, the most controversial and talked-about event in wrestling history went down as the infamous Montreal Screwjob changed the face of the WWE forever and, for the first time since the 1997 incident, Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart will appear, live on RAW, in Montreal. Also, after the shocking conclusion of last week’s RAW revealed an apparent partnership between WWE Champion CM Punk and Paul Heyman, what exactly is the relationship between the self-proclaimed “Best in the World” and the mastermind between the original ECW? What impact will it have on CM Punk’s WWE Title defense against John Cena this Sunday at Night of Champions?
Match Results

Detailed Results
Fifteen years after the infamous Montreal Screwjob, RAW kicks off with WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart, who appeared live in Montreal for the first time since the 1997 incident! Amid a raucous ovation, Bret tries his best to speak, saying that the last time he was in that arena, it was one of his “darkest days” before saying that the Montreal fans got him through those dark days and he will never forget that. Bret continues that he is proud of what he did that day before thanking the fans for supporting him throughout years. A genuinely great moment is then ruined by WWE Champion CM Punk as the respect-obsessed champion enters the ring to confront “The Hitman”. Punk says that he does not have the “ego” to write a book about himself like Bret Hart did, but if he did write a book, it would be called, “what if?”, saying that, what if he had faced Bret Hart at Survivor Series in 1997 instead of Shawn Michaels. Bret says that it does not matter what anyone would have done, because it would have taken him less than a minute to put Punk in the Sharpshooter and make the back of his feet touch the back of his head! Punk argues that he does not “need” a Vince McMahon to screw anybody and he would have beaten Bret Hart with his own two hands. Punk continues that his defeat of Bret would have meant that the Attitude Era would never have existed and he would jump to WCW and the WWE would have been “dead”.

Bret says that Punk would have been “excellently executed” by “The Best There Is, The Best There Was, And The Best There Ever Will Be”. Bret says that “the best in the world” would not have walked out on a match against Sheamus nor would he ambush John Cena during the main event. The WWE Champion says that he was in his hometown, a town that appreciates its champions, and he was in a hurry to enjoy his day off, but he returned to the arena to get his stuff. Punk asks where John Cena is, asking if Bret has Cena waiting in the back just in case things get heated. Punk continues that Bret does not know the meaning of “respect” because, if he did, then he would not talk to the WWE Champion in that manner, adding that he has been the WWE Champion longer than Bret Hart ever was. Punk then says that, after he beats John Cena at Night of Champions, he will be the greatest WWE Champion of all-time! Punk continues that, the ovation that Bret got in Montreal should be the ovation that he gets in each and every arena he enters. Punk then calls Bret “overrated”, saying that he will put Cena to sleep this Sunday. Punk adds that he is going to leave Cena a “beaten, broken shell of a man”, just like Bret Hart is. The WWE Champion then turns his back on “The Hitman”, walking out of the ring.

In a special Night of Champions Tag Match, Intercontinental Champion The Miz would team with United States Champion Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in his corner, to face WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston. In the end, it was Kofi Kingston hitting Trouble in Paradise on Antonio Cesaro en route to pinning the United States Champion and picking up the win for himself and R-Truth.

In a deposition that took place at WWE Headquarters and conducted by David Otunga, Otunga, his client Ricardo Rodriguez, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, and his lawyer were all present. After Sheamus swears to be truthful, Otunga asks Sheamus for his first and last name with Sheamus saying that his last name is “Lipschitz”, claiming he is part Irish and part Jewish. Sheamus then laughs it off, saying that Lipschitz is not his last name. Sheamus then says that, if he had to hit Ricardo Rodriguez with the Brogue Kick, he would do it again. Otunga then brings up referee Chad Patton and Daniel Bryan as victims of Sheamus’ Brogue Kick, presenting photos of the incidents. Otunga then grills the World Heavyweight Champion despite the objections of Sheamus’ lawyer, but Sheamus argues that the Brogue Kick does not discriminate before blasting the court camera with a Brogue Kick!

Six nights before she defends the Divas Title against Kaitlyn at Night of Champions, Divas Champion Layla teams with her #1 Contender, Kaitlyn, and Eve to face the team of Beth Phoenix, Natalya, & Alicia Fox in a 6-Diva Tag Match. In the end, it was Eve tagging herself into the match, hitting the swinging neckbreaker on Alicia Fox en route to picking up the win for her perplexed team.

Then it was time for the #RAWactive Match of the night as WWE Champion CM Punk would face Brodus Clay, Randy Orton, or Jerry “The King” Lawler, depending on who the fans voted for. With 75% of the vote, the Twitter universe overwhelmingly voted “The Viper” Randy Orton into the non-title match! During the match, Randy Orton was ready to put CM Punk away, but Dolph Ziggler rushes the ring, attacking Orton, but Orton takes Punk out of the ring. Orton then delivers a powerslam to Dolph and a second to Punk, but the numbers game would catch up to “The Viper” as both Ziggler and Punk pummel Orton. However, Jerry “The King” Lawler would rush the ring, assisting Orton in clearing the ring before Lawler and Orton would continue the fight on the outside of the ring!

After Dolph Ziggler brought an abrupt end to the match between CM Punk and Randy Orton, WWE Champion CM Punk would team with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, to face “The Viper” Randy Orton and Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. During the match, CM Punk’s new associate, Paul Heyman makes his way to ringside to discuss matters with the WWE Champion. While the match goes on behind Punk, Punk and Heyman calmly discuss business and, despite the shrill screaming of Vickie Guerrero, Punk continues to ignore the match. Meanwhile, Randy Orton hits the RKO on Dolph Ziggler in the ring, pinning “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” for the win as Punk and Heyman walk away, unfazed by the loss!

Backstage, WWE Champion CM Punk and Paul Heyman are questioned about the nature of their relationship with Punk offering the simple explanation that he is a “Paul Heyman guy”.

Backstage, Kane and Daniel Bryan’s anger management therapist, Dr. Shelby, confronts his clients as RAW General Manager AJ Lee reveals that she asked Dr. Shelby to be there. The GM says that the doctor has a “radical” treatment idea as Dr. Shelby says that the treatment will either cure Kane and Daniel Bryan’s anger issues or send them into an “abyss” from which they will “never recover” and it will force them to “trust” each other!

After his loss to Zack Ryder on last week’s RAW, Heath Slater demanded a rematch against “The Long Island Iced Z”, but Ryder says that, while he would love to face Slater, Slater already has an opponent in “The Sin City Cyborg” Ryback! In the end, it was another dominant victory for Ryback, hitting Shell Shocked en route to picking up the win over Heath Slater.

Backstage, AJ Lee informs The Prime Time Players that they are not the #1 Contenders to the WWE Tag Team Titles because there is one team that they have not defeated, the team of Kane & Daniel Bryan! The GM then announces that they will face Kane & Bryan for the #1 Contenders’ spot.

Per the orders of RAW General Manager AJ Lee and anger management therapist Dr. Shelby, Daniel Bryan would be forced to team with “The Big Red Monster” Kane to face The Prime Time Players with the winners facing R-Truth & Kofi Kingston for the WWE Tag Team Titles at Night of Champions! During the match, Daniel Bryan would refuse to tag Kane into the match, resulting in Kane tagging himself into the match. With Kane dominating the match, Daniel Bryan would tag himself back into the match and Kane would respond by chokeslamming Daniel Bryan, but Kane chokeslams Bryan right on top of Darren Young as the referee counts to three, meaning Kane & Daniel Bryan are the new #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles! After the match, Kane actually raises the hand of Daniel Bryan. Can this unlikely and unbalanced team unseat R-Truth & Kofi Kingston as the WWE Tag Team Champions?

Six nights before he challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at Night of Champions, “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, went one-on-one with Canada’s own Tyson Kidd. In the end, it was Del Rio locking in the cross armbreaker, forcing Tyson Kidd to tap out to pick up the win.

After the match, commentator Michael Cole is seated alone at ringside without Jerry “The King” Lawler as Cole emotionally explains that, during the match between Kane & Daniel Bryan and The Prime Time Players, the Hall of Famer collapsed in his position at ringside. Cole continues that Lawler’s collapsing is not part of the entertainment and medical technicians are currently using CPR on Lawler backstage.

With Michael Cole understandably quiet on commentary, the show moved on as World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus went one-on-one with the man who was responsible for getting his Brogue Kick taken away, David Otunga, in a non-title match. In the end, it was Sheamus using the Texas Cloverleaf, forcing David Otunga to tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Sheamus would get a measure of revenge on the Harvard Law graduate as Sheamus lays Otunga out with the Brogue Kick! RAW General Manager AJ Lee then comes out, saying that, with Sheamus using the Brogue Kick, she has no other choice. However, SmackDown General Manager Booker T comes out to handle the matter, saying that, if Sheamus uses the Brogue Kick at any time before his investigation is complete, Sheamus will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship!

Backstage, Dr. Shelby tells new #1 Contenders Kane & Daniel Bryan that they came together and worked as a team. Bryan calmly says that he didn’t appreciate the chokeslam, but they did get the win and he can get used to the team of Daniel Bryan & Kane. This sparks an argument over whose name should be placed first with both men shouting “no” at the doctor’s suggestion of the team being called “Team Friendship”.

Michael Cole then provides an update on his friend and Hall of Fame colleague, Jerry “The King” Lawler, following the legend’s collapse earlier in the evening. Cole informs everyone that Lawler has been rushed to a local hospital and, while Lawler is receiving oxygen, he is breathing on his own. Cole then states that, out of respect for “The King”, there will be no further commentary on this week’s RAW.

Rey Mysterio was in action on RAW as “The Master of the 619” went one-on-one with the mask-obsessed Cody Rhodes. In the end, it was Cody Rhodes hitting Cross Rhodes on Rey Mysterio en route to picking up the win. After the match, Intercontinental Champion The Miz comes in to rub his title belt in the face of Mysterio, but Rhodes attacks The Miz, laying Miz out with the Cross Rhodes!

Michael Cole explains that Jerry Lawler is being more responsive as “The King” is responding to lights. Lawler is in the isolated portion of the E.R. and is awaiting a CAT scan.

After kicking off the show with his first appearance in the Bell Centre in Montreal in fifteen years, Bret “The Hitman” Hart would introduce the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Cena, for an exclusive interview. Bret says that the rivalry between CM Punk and John Cena reminds him of the feud between himself and Shawn Michaels, saying that he sees a lot of himself in Cena and a lot of Shawn Michaels in CM Punk. Cena says that the differences between Punk and Michaels are obvious, saying that Michaels did not pretend to be someone he is not. Cena continues that Punk believes that leather and gold equal respect and Bret responds by asking how Cena is going to handle the “phony Punk”.

This brings WWE Champion CM Punk out as Cena tells Punk that there are three ropes between Punk and the worst decision of his life. Punk then says that Cena is the true phony, saying that he does what he wants, when he wants and he has decided to come out there and defend his good name against such blatant “disrespect”. Punk then enters the ring, saying that Cena and Bret are so much alike because they were both “surpassed” by someone so much greater than them, saying that he is greater than Cena and Shawn Michaels was greater than Bret Hart. Punk continues that they cannot draw a line of comparison between himself and Shawn Michaels because he is better than Michaels, adding that he is better than the “hillbilly” that Bret Hart made pass out in the Sharpshooter, Stone Cold Steve Austin! Punk says that he is also better than The Rock and everyone saw what he did to The Rock, something that Cena could not do in an entire year. Punk then says that he proclaims that he is the best in the world because he is indeed the best in the world. Cena calls Punk a “scumbag”, saying that Montreal is an “honest” city, saying what they want when they want. Cena then says that, for 300 days, Punk has been the WWE Champion and, for 300 days, the championship has been “irrelevant”! Cena tells Punk that “there is no you”, saying that the night that Punk made the most noise was when his microphone was silenced.

Cena continues that Punk promised “change” last year, but the only change that Punk wanted was him becoming a “star” and, through good and bad, he has been himself. Cena then says that, throughout Punk’s career, Punk has changed his ideologies numerous times, stabbed his friends in the back, wear the colors of Hall of Famers, and even “stole” the elbow drop of the late, great Randy Savage, saying that Punk has done all of this because he is yet to find himself. Cena continues that the reason that Punk is still the champion is because he has defended it by any means necessary and that does not define a champion and, at Night of Champions, Punk will have to find a new “identity”. Cena then says that Punk has realized that he is in “serious jeopardy” of losing the WWE Title at Night of Champions. Cena then insults Punk in French and Punk says that Cena is “lowering” himself to speaking the language of the locals. A fired-up Cena then says that the fans are the reason they are both there, calling Punk an “ignorant son of a bitch” and slapping the microphone out his hands. Cena then says that, at Night of Champions, he is going to kick Punk’s ass! Punk then attempts to cheap shot Bret Hart, but Cena blocks it before Cena looks ready to fight the WWE Champion. Punk then tries to cheap shot “The Hitman” again, but Bret blocks it himself, knocking the champion down with a right hand! Punk then rolls out of the ring, clutching his WWE Title belt.

Michael Cole then ends the show with a positive update about Jerry “The King” Lawler as Cole explains that, after the Hall of Famer collapsed to the floor earlier in the evening, Lawler is in a local medical facility, where he is breathing on his own and his heart is beating on his own. Cole then reports that Lawler’s condition is “stabilized”, but asks everyone to keep Lawler in their thoughts and prayers.

Brogue No?
Nine nights before Night of Champions, the 681st edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the i wireless Center in Moline, IL. Two of the most popular international Superstars in WWE history would join forces as “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio would team with “The International Sensation” Sin Cara to face the team of Intercontinental Champion The Miz and the mask-obsessed Cody Rhodes. Also, after he “took a bullet” for Alberto Del Rio by getting himself blasted with a Brogue Kick from Sheamus, Ricardo Rodriguez has apparently gotten himself some legal representation in the form of the Harvard Law graduate, David Otunga, as Rodriguez intends to sue Sheamus and the entire WWE and, on SmackDown, David Otunga would speak on his client’s behalf.
Match Results
  • Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara def. Cody Rhodes & The Miz by Rey Mysterio pinning The Miz following the 619 & Bullet Splash.
  • Zack Ryder def. Daniel Bryan by the referee reversing the decision.
  • Randy Orton def. Damien Sandow (with Dolph Ziggler) by intentional count-out.
  • #1 Contenders’ Triple Threat Tag Match: The Prime Time Players def. Primo & Epico and Jimmy & Jey Uso by Darren Young pinning Primo following the Superfly Splash. As a result, The Prime Time Players are the new #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles.
  • Wade Barrett def. Yoshi Tatsu by pin following an elbow strike to the head.
  • Non-Title: Sheamus def. David Otunga by submission to the Texas Cloverleaf.
Match Results
After Ricardo Rodriguez took the Brogue Kick on RAW, SmackDown kicks off with Alberto Del Rio, David Otunga, and Ricardo Rodriguez as Del Rio and Otunga assist Ricardo Rodriguez, who was sporting a neck brace following the attack. Del Rio states that he is on the roll of his career, picking up wins over Randy Orton, Kane, and John Cena over the last couple of weeks. Del Rio continues that he could easily beat Sheamus at Night of Champions if it was down to brains and skill, but Sheamus has an advantage because he has something “more dangerous than a steel chair” in the Brogue Kick. Del Rio proclaims that the Brogue Kick should be “banned”, saying that kicking someone in the head is a “criminal act”. Del Rio continues that Ricardo Rodriguez is not only his personal ring announcer, but he is his only “friend”. Del Rio says that his cross armbreaker is like “poetry”, but the Brogue Kick is a criminal act. Ricardo Rodriguez’s legal counsel, the Harvard Law graduate David Otunga, then says that what happened to Rodriguez was “no accident” as Sheamus uses the Brogue Kick with the intent to maim. Otunga continues that, if the WWE allows Sheamus to continue using the Brogue Kick, then it is a joke, saying that they have talked to SmackDown General Manager Booker T and they demanded “justice”. Otunga is then interrupted by the man in charge on Friday nights, SmackDown General Manager Booker T. Booker says that, what they said in his office, was supposed to be confidential, but now he has taken their case to the people. Booker then polls the audience, asking the crowd if he should ban the Brogue Kick with the fans supporting the Brogue Kick remaining a legal move, which prompts the GM to rule that the Brogue Kick is still legal.

The opening match of the night saw the new team of “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio and “The International Sensation” Sin Cara face the team of the mask-obsessed Cody Rhodes and Intercontinental Champion The Miz. During the match, Cody Rhodes would inadvertently land a kick on his own tag team partner, The Miz. This would allow the masked duo to take advantage as Rey Mysterio hits the 619 on The Miz en route to pinning the Intercontinental Champion to pick up the win for himself and Sin Cara.

After hugging it out led to duking it out with Kane on RAW, Daniel Bryan would go one-on-one with Zack Ryder on SmackDown. During the match, there would be a standstill between Daniel Bryan and Zack Ryder as Bryan asks Ryder to “hug it out” with him. Ryder reluctantly hugs Bryan, but it was all a ploy as Bryan locks in the No Lock on Ryder, forcing Ryder to tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Bryan’s anger would get the better of him and Bryan would again lock in the No Lock on Ryder, but Bryan’s actions would force the referee to reverse the match decision, awarding Ryder the win!

Before the next match can begin, “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow comes out, saying that Booker T put him a match that he was not ready for last week. Sandow explains that he needs to time to find his opponent’s weaknesses and exploit them before saying that the social media universe has been calling him a “coward”, but his actions were “intelligent”. Sandow continues that those who send their feelings via social media are the true cowards, saying that nobody has the guts to call him a coward to his face. Sandow is then interrupted by “The Viper” Randy Orton, who says that he is not out there to join in on the discussion, he is there to “fight” and he has told Booker T that he wants to change his scheduled match so that he can fight Sandow! Despite Sandow’s objections, the match gets underway as “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler and his manager, Vickie Guerrero, make their way to ringside as Dolph is a guest on commentary for the match. In a repeat of last week, Damien Sandow would flee the ring, opting to take a count-out loss to Randy Orton. After the match, Orton would confront Dolph Ziggler and “The Viper” would strike with a right hand before rolling Dolph into the ring, but as Orton looks ready to RKO Ziggler, Damien Sandow returns to the ring and gets the RKO for his trouble while Dolph is able to make a quick escape.

Backstage, David Otunga continues to plead his case to Booker T over the dangers of the Brogue Kick with the GM saying that he will think about it. However, Booker would then put Otunga in a one-on-one match against World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus!

With WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston guests on commentary, the #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles would be determined on SmackDown as Jimmy & Jey Uso, Primo & Epico, and The Prime Time Players would face off in a Triple Threat Tag Match with the winning team earning the #1 Contenders’ spot. In the end, it was Darren Young hitting the double knee gutbuster on Primo and Jey Uso capitalizing with the Superfly Splash. However, Darren Young would toss Jey Uso off of the cover, taking the pinfall for himself to pick up the win for The Prime Time Players, earning Darren Young & Titus O’Neil the #1 Contenders’ spots.

Backstage, Dolph Ziggler confronts Booker T’s Senior Advisor, Theodore Long, demanding a match with Randy Orton at Night of Champions. Long says that, despite neither Dolph or Orton being a current champion, he will “advise” Booker to make the match.

After months away from the WWE due to a dislocated shoulder, the “Barrett Barrage” was back in effect on SmackDown as the bareknuckle brawler, Wade Barrett went one-on-one with Yoshi Tatsu. In the end, it was Wade Barrett blasting Yoshi Tatsu with a vicious elbow to the skull en route to picking up the win. After the match, Wade Barrett says that, if he is not going to be instantly put back into the title picture, he is going to do something that will make things more “interesting” for himself. Barrett then proclaims that “Wade Barrett is open for business”.

Then it was time for the main event as, with #1 Contender Alberto Del Rio at ringside, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus went one-on-one with the man leading the crusade to get his Brogue Kick banned, David Otunga. During the match, Sheamus was moments away from victory as he measured David Otunga for the Brogue Kick, but SmackDown General Manager Booker T comes out to reluctantly announce that, given the evidence, he has no choice but to ban the Brogue Kick! With the Brogue Kick banned, Sheamus would utilize the newest move in his arsenal, locking in the Texas Cloverleaf on David Otunga, forcing the Harvard Law graduate to tap out as the World Heavyweight Champion picks up the win.

Paul E. Accessory.
Two weeks before Night of Champions, the 1006th edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the Allstate Arena in CM Punk’s hometown of Chicago, IL. With a title defense against John Cena looming at Night of Champions and one week after the uncomfortable brutalizing of Jerry “The King” Lawler inside the steel cage, WWE Champion CM Punk would go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus in a non-title Champion vs. Champion match. Also, the respective #1 Contenders for the WWE and World Heavyweight Titles would square off on RAW as the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Cena, faces the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio.
Match Results
  • Dolph Ziggler def. Randy Orton by roll-up with the tights.
  • Sin Cara & Rey Mysterio def. Cody Rhodes & Tensai by Sin Cara pinning Cody Rhodes following the Swanton Bomb.
  • Non-Title: Sheamus def. Jack Swagger by submission to the Texas Cloverleaf.
  • Eve def. Kaitlyn by pin following the swinging neckbreaker.
  • Ryback def. Jinder Mahal by pin following Shell Shocked.
  • United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro (c) (with Aksana) def. Santino Marella by pin following the Neutralizer to retain.
  • Falls Count Anywhere: Alberto Del Rio (with CM Punk) def. John Cena by pin following a kick to the skull by CM Punk.
Detailed Results
RAW would kick off with Michael Cole explaining that Jerry “The King” Lawler was not out there with him due to a backstage brawl that took place moments before RAW went on the air. During the brawl, the Hall of Famer would hold his own against WWE Champion CM Punk, but a boot to the face of “The King” would knock Lawler down before referees were finally able to restrain the WWE Champion.

The show would then officially get underway with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, who says that the “party will end” for Alberto Del Rio at Night of Champions. However, the World Heavyweight Champion would barely get the words out of his mouth before Chicago’s own WWE Champion, CM Punk, interrupts, soaking in the ovation from the hometown crowd. Punk tells Sheamus that Chicago cannot relate to a guy like Sheamus, but they can relate to a guy like him. The WWE Champion claims that Jerry Lawler attacked him from behind backstage, saying that he beat up the Hall of Famer “Chicago style” and, last week, he gave Lawler a lesson in “respect”. Punk continues that John Cena got involved in his business last week, saying that Lawler said several weeks ago that Punk turned his back on the fans. Punk then says that Cena is agreeing with Jerry Lawler and, if that is the case, then Cena is “disrespecting” Punk, saying that Cena has turned his back on the fans. Sheamus then interrupts Punk’s rant, saying that at least The Rock had the guts to confront Punk in the ring on the 1,000th episode of RAW before the World Heavyweight Champion dares the WWE Champion to come into the ring. Punk says that he already beat up one “goon” and, in the pecking order of the WWE, Sheamus is second best, telling Sheamus to shut his mouth! Sheamus tells Punk that Punk is talking out of his “arse”. Punk begins to respond before he is interrupted by RAW General Manager AJ Lee, who says that she means no disrespect, but she has an announcement to make. The GM then announces that John Cena will face Alberto Del Rio and, in a Champion vs. Champion match, WWE Champion CM Punk will face World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus.

The opening match of the night was a rematch from SmackDown as “The Viper” Randy Orton went one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner. In the end, it was Dolph Ziggler going counter-for-counter with Randy Orton, finally getting a roll-up on “The Viper”, hooking Orton’s tights for added leverage to pick up the win.

RAW also featured footage of week two of the anger management classes for Daniel Bryan and Kane as the doctor asks Daniel Bryan to present his anger collage. Bryan shows a piece of paper with “yes” and “no” written all over it, explaining that when he screams “yes”, the fans chant “yes” and when he chants “no”, they still chant “yes”. Dr. Shelby then asks Kane to show his anger collage and “The Big Red Monster” shows a blank piece of paper before saying that he will show the doctor how he feels inside, tossing the paper in a trashcan and lighting it on fire! Bryan responds by calling Kane a “teacher’s pet”.

With Intercontinental Champion The Miz joining Michael Cole on commentary, “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio would team with “The International Sensation” Sin Cara as the masked duo would face the team of Cody Rhodes and the destructive Tensai, with Sakamoto in their corner. In the end, it was Rey Mysterio hitting the 619 on Cody Rhodes, setting Rhodes up for a Swanton Bomb by Sin Cara, who pins Rhodes to pick up the win for the masked team.

Back at anger management, Dr. Shelby asks the participants to move their chairs back for a trust exercise, asking Kane and Daniel Bryan to do a trust fall with Daniel Bryan falling backwards and Kane actually catching him! The doctor then asks anger management participant Harold to have both Kane and Daniel Bryan catch him, but the trust fall falls short as Kane and Bryan intentionally let Harold hit the floor! Bryan then says that he thinks that he finally “understands” Kane.

It was then scheduled to be a Champion vs. Champion match between WWE Champion CM Punk and World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, but after Sheamus comes out, ready to compete, Punk comes out still in his street clothes. The WWE Champion explains that Chicago understands that Punk is “nothing less” than a main event wrestler and they all “respect” his decisions. Punk then says that a lot of the Chicago fans have taken the day for Labor Day and that is exactly what he is doing before the WWE Champion exits the ring, walking to the back! Sheamus then says that Punk is disrespecting the fans by refusing to compete. Backstage, AJ Lee tries to stop CM Punk from leaving the arena, but the WWE Champion tells the GM to check his contract, saying that he is taking a “personal day” before Punk gets in a car and leaves the arena! A stressed out AJ Lee then tells Matt Striker that she will find an opponent for Sheamus.

With CM Punk walking out on the scheduled Champion vs. Champion match against World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, RAW General Manager AJ Lee would have to find a last minute opponent for Sheamus and, with the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio, a guest on commentary, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus would go one-on-one with Jack Swagger in a non-title match. In the end, it was Sheamus pulling a new move out of his arsenal, locking in the Texas Cloverleaf on Jack Swagger, making Swagger tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Alberto Del Rio would use a distraction by Ricardo Rodriguez to try and attack Sheamus, but the World Heavyweight Champion would fight back, knocking Rodriguez out of the way before hitting White Noise on the #1 Contender. However, when Sheamus goes for the Brogue Kick, Rodriguez shoves Del Rio out of the way, taking the Brogue Kick for his employer!

Two weeks before she challenges Layla for the Divas Title, Kaitlyn would go one-on-one with the Assistant to the SmackDown General Manager, Eve, with Divas Champion Layla a guest on commentary. In the end, it was Eve hitting a swinging neckbreaker on Kaitlyn en route to picking up the win. After the match, Eve exits the ring to shake the hand of a reluctant Layla.

Backstage, RAW General Manager AJ Lee catches up with Jack Swagger, who informs the GM that he is taking some “extended” time off. AJ begs Swagger to stay, saying that Brock Lesnar, Chris Jericho, and CM Punk have already “left” her, but Swagger says “sorry” before exiting the arena.

Back at anger management, Dr. Shelby congratulates his students on completing anger management, saying that he is especially proud of Daniel Bryan and Kane. Bryan then addresses the class, saying that he now realizes that he did have an anger issue, but now he is over it and would be glad to face Kane in a SummerSlam rematch any time Kane wants it. Kane says that, someday, he will gladly accept the challenge and he will try his best to not “eviscerate” him, but Bryan says that it will be tough for Kane to eviscerate him if Kane is tapping out. Kane says that it will be tough for Bryan to make him tap out if he makes it so Bryan cannot even leave the room. The confrontation between the two causes Dr. Shelby to lose his cool as the doctor screams at both men that they have learned “nothing” before Dr. Shelby storms out of the room!

Backstage, Matt Striker is trying to get an update from Alberto Del Rio about the condition of Ricardo Rodriguez, but David Otunga comes out of the trainer’s room, saying that his “client” will not be speaking at this time. Has David Otunga found himself a new client? Will Del Rio or Rodriguez sue Sheamus or the WWE?

“The Sin City Cyborg” was in action on RAW as the undefeated Ryback went one-on-one with Jinder Mahal. In the end, it was another dominant victory for “The Sin City Cyborg” as Ryback hits Shell Shocked on Jinder Mahal en route to picking up the win.

Backstage, a stressed AJ Lee tells Matt Striker to inform John Cena and Alberto Del Rio that their main event match will now be a Falls Count Anywhere Match!

The WWE fans would decide the next step for Daniel Bryan and Kane via #RAWactive as the fans would vote for the two rivals to either face each other in a match, team with each other in a match, or “hug it out”. With 55% of the vote, Kane and Daniel Bryan would have to settle their issues with a hug in the middle of the ring! The two Superstars would be extremely reluctant to even make friendly contact, but after a couple of chest bumps, Bryan would manage to hug Kane. Then it was Kane’s turn to hug Daniel Bryan back with “The Big Red Monster” awkwardly hugging Daniel Bryan. With a referee officiating the bizarre moment between the two, Kane and Daniel Bryan would finally and truly “hug it out” before shaking hands. The two would then exchange friendly slaps on the shoulder, but the slaps would get more and more aggressive, leading to Daniel Bryan shoving Kane and Kane shoving back. The shoving match continues before all the anger management classes go out the window as Daniel Bryan delivers kicks to Kane, sending Kane to the outside. However, Kane would gain the advantage, hurling Bryan into the ringside barricade. Kane then grabs a steel chair, ramming it into the mid-section of Bryan before chokeslamming Bryan in the center of the ring. Kane then places the chair around the neck of Bryan, but referees prevent Kane from compacting Bryan’s skull. Bryan then gets a hold of the chair, driving it into the shoulder of “The Big Red Monster” before making a quick escape from the ring.

After losing the United States Title on the SummerSlam Pre-Show, Santino Marella would get his rematch as Santino would challenge Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in his corner, for the United States Title. In the end, it was Antonio Cesaro hitting the Neutralizer on Santino Marella en route to picking up the win and successfully retaining the United States Title.

“The Long Island Iced Z” was in action on RAW as Zack Ryder went one-on-one with Heath Slater. In the end, it was Zack Ryder hitting the Rough Ryder Leg Lariat on Heath Slater en route to picking up the win. Ryder would get no time to celebrate, however, as Vickie Guerrero comes out, saying that she is not going to leave the ring until AJ Lee comes out there. Vickie then demands that she gets a chair to sit in, which she receives as Vickie awaits the arrival of the RAW General Manager. As Vickie awaits the arrival of AJ Lee, Vickie pulls a Clint Eastwood by talking to an empty chair. The stressed AJ Lee finally makes her way to the ring as the GM reveals the WWE Board of Directors has reprimanded her for her recent actions and have warned her to never put her hands on anyone ever again. AJ says that the Board of Directors also want her to apologize as the GM apologizes to everyone. Vickie then demands that AJ apologize to her right now. The GM swallows her pride and manages to say that she’s sorry, but Vickie says that it is not good enough, telling AJ to apologize again, but this time, mean it. AJ then gives it another try, but Vickie responds with a slap to the GM’s face and AJ just narrowly avoids losing it. Vickie then taunts the GM before slapping her a second time! Vickie then leaves the ring, laughing at AJ and skipping up the ramp, causing the GM to toss the microphone down. The enraged GM then takes her aggression out on the steel chair in the ring, using the chair to pound the mat before tossing the chair out of the ring before AJ breaks down in the center of the ring.

Then it was time for the main event as #1 Contenders would face off as the #1 Contender for the WWE Title, John Cena, would go one-on-one with the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title, Alberto Del Rio, in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. During the match, John Cena would go for the Attitude Adjustment on Alberto Del Rio, with the intent of driving Del Rio through the announce table, but Del Rio would counter, delivering a back suplex to Cena through the table! The fight would then make its way to the backstage area as Cena and Del Rio destroy the backstage area before Cena hits the Attitude Adjustment on Del Rio on an anvil case, but before Cena can take advantage, CM Punk appears out of nowhere, delivering a kick to Cena’s skull! Punk then pulls Del Rio over to cover Cena as Del Rio gets the victory! CM Punk then finishes the job as he delivers a modified GTS on the hood of a car! As Cena is laid out on the concrete, Punk utters the word “respect” to Cena before Punk gets in the car. The car then slowly drives by the downed Cena, revealing that Punk’s chauffeur is none other than Paul Heyman!
