Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long is in the ring and he is hollaing. He brings out the new World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton and he comes to the ring.

Randy soaks in the applause and cheers before he speaks. He says that everyone is used to seeing Smackdown starting with Christian in the ring, whining and complaining and begging for that one more match. Orton says that he sure as hell isn’t Christian. Randy reminds us who he is and he tells us that he is the World Champion.

He says that he beat Christian so badly and so brutally at SummerSlam that he cannot even stand up to beg him for another match. Orton says that he used to respect Christian but then he started to annoy him and now he despises Christian with every fiber of his being. Now it is over. Randy says that he doesn’t want to talk about lawyers, lawsuits, and contracts. He wants to start anew.

Teddy says that he will tell Orton who he will face next. It will be the winner of a twenty man over the top rope battle royal.

Teddy is interrupted by Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase who make their way to the ring.

Cody says that this is the Legacy reunited in the ring. He asks Randy if he remembers Legacy. It was the group that they used to have on Monday Night Raw when they were considered lesser sons of a greater sire. My how times have changed. Cody says that just like Randy, he is a champion too. Unlike Randy, he didn’t have to resort to common barbarism to win his title and please the masses. Cody says that he does not care about any of the hideous people in the building tonight.

Cody says that Randy knows him and he knows that Cody doesn’t like just being the Intercontinental Champion. Cody says that is why he will compete in the battle royal. He wants what Randy has and sooner rather than later, he is going to take that title.

Cody gives the mic to Ted and Ted tells Randy that they know him better than anyone else in the WWE. They know his strengths and they know his weaknesses. He tells Randy that they have not forgotten all those times that Randy used them . . .

Orton has heard enough and he gives Ted an RKO.

Cody leaves the ring so he doesn’t get an RKO.

Orton heads up the ramp while Cody has something to say to Teddy.

Cody says that he assumes that Teddy is going to do something about this. Cody demands that Teddy does something about that.

Teddy says that he will make Randy stand in a corner for ten minutes on one leg. He will also tell Randy to write one hundred times “I will not RKO Ted DiBiase”.

Since Ted is not able to compete, Teddy is forcing Cody to compete. Cody will have to defend the Intercontinental Title against Ezekiel Jackson. Who wants to holla?

We go to commercial.

We are back and we see how Cody Rhodes won the Intercontinental Title last week.

Match Number One: Cody Rhodes versus Ezekiel Jackson for theIntercontinental Title


They lock up and Jackson sends Cody into the corner and he punches Cody and then he Irish whips Cody followed by a spinning side slam for a near fall. Jackson grabs Cody’s leg and Cody misses an enzuigiri. Jackson with an elbow to the back for a near fall. Jackson and Rhodes with punches and Cody with the drop down uppercut. Jackson with a back body drop and he gets a near fall. Cody drops Jackson’s throat across the top rope and then Rhodes with a bulldog for a near fall.

Rhodes with a series of kicks and punches to Jackson and the referee warns him. Rhodes with another series of punches but Jackson with a punch to stop a mare. Rhodes with a forearm for a near fall. Rhodes with a quarter nelson into a front face lock but Jackson sends Rhodes into the corner. Rhodes with a forearm but Jackson with punches in the corner. Jackson tries for a slam but Rhodes goes to the floor. Jackson follows after Rhodes and he sends Cody into the ring steps. Cody kicks the steps and Jackson gets hit in the leg. Jackson tries for the Torture Rack but Cody escapes and he kicks Jackson. Rhodes with the Beautiful Disaster followed by Cross Rhodes for the three count.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

We go to commercial.

We are back and Teddy Long is in his office with his assistant Zack Ryder. Zack says that Alberto is on his way. Zack says that Alberto is great because he is going to wrestle tonight. Ryder says that Alberto is coming to Zackdown to talk about being the Undisputed Champion. Teddy says that this is Smackdown and he wanted Zack to invite the WWE Champion who he thought would be John Cena or CM Punk.

Ryder says that he is going to surprise the world and become the number one contender.

Cue the saxophone and Aksana enters. Teddy is surprised that Aksana is here. She asks him why his last name is ‘Long’. Aksana says that he main event looks exciting and then she asks Teddy if he would like to watch her with twenty men. Teddy wants to make sure that she meant watching the match with him. Aksana wonders what Teddy was thinking and then Teddy has some trouble trying to form a coherent sentence in front of Aksana and he says that he would rather watch it by himself and he leaves.

The announcers talk about how Alberto Del Rio is coming home to Smackdown and that leads us into a video package about WWE returning to South Africa, Justin Gabriel’s home country. He says that he hasn’t been back to South Africa in three years. We see Justin all over the country.

Match Number Two: Justin Gabriel versus Tyson Kidd


Kidd with a waist lock take down into a side head lock. Kidd with a shoulder tackle and he tries for a hip toss but Gabriel lands on his feet. Gabriel with an arm drag into an arm bar. Kidd backs Gabriel into the corner and Kidd with punches but Gabriel with an Irish whip. Kidd floats over and he sends Gabriel into the turnbuckles with a head scissors. Kidd with a snap mare followed by a drop kick to the back of the neck and he gets a near fall.

Kidd with an elbow to the back of the head and he hits a running back elbow for a near fall. Kidd with a surfboard with his knee on Gabriel’s neck. Gabriel flips out of a belly-to-back suplex and Gabriel misses a spin kick but he hits an enzuigiri. Gabriel with kicks to Kidd ending with a jumping back kick. Gabriel with a spinning heel kick followed by a roaring elbow for a near fall.

Kidd with an Irish whip but Kidd misses a charge into the corner. Gabriel with a springboard cross body but Kidd rolls through and tries for a Sharpshooter but Gabriel counters and gets a near fall. Gabriel with an STO and then he goes up top but Kidd recovers and he tries for a superplex but Gabriel knocks Kidd off the turnbuckles. Gabriel sets for the 450 splash and he hits it and gets the three count.

Winner: Justin Gabriel

Matt Striker asks Jinder Mahal about his chances in the battle royal tonight. Khali interrupts and Jinder says that Khali says that he will win the battle royal. Mahal yells at Khali in Hindi and then he tells Khali that he serves him. Mahal says that they agree that Jinder will win the battle royal.

We go to commercial.

We are back and Ricardo Rodriguez introduces the WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio.

Alberto tells us who he is . . . but we already knew that. He tells us that the is the Undisputed WWE Champion. He says that he has been talking about destiny for month. People might have thought that he was crazy, but he is here in front of the crowd to prove to everyone that destiny is real.

He says that he cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam to become the Undisputed WWE Champion. He says that he is ‘your’ champion because of what Bakersfield means to Alberto. Alberto says that he debuted in this building last year. He defeated Rey Mysterio in his debut and he says that he remembers how everyone hated him.

Things have changed in a year because everyone loves Alberto. Alberto says that it is funny that a year ago he defeated Rey Mysterio. Then a year later, he beat Rey Mysterio in his first title defense. Alberto says that if the people don’t believe him, we have the footage of the match from Monday night.

Alberto and Ricardo like what they see while the people of Bakersfield disagree. Alberto says that he is a real champion. A real champion faces anyone. Alberto wants to know who wants to face El Padron Alberto Del Rio.

Daniel Bryan’s music plays and he comes out to the stage.

Del Rio wants to know if Bryan is kidding him. He asks Bryan if he wants another beat down and he calls him a dog.

Bryan says that Alberto thinks that he is so special. Bryan wants to know why Del Rio cashed in his briefcase like everyone else when the champion was beaten and broken so he had to pick up the bones. He says that is not special. It is ordinary and predictable so it is pathetic.

We go to commercial.

Match Number Three: Daniel Bryan versus Alberto Del Rio with Ricardo Rodriguez in a Non Title Match


They lock up and Del Rio backs Bryan into the corner. Del Rio misses a punch and Bryan with forearms and kicks. Bryan misses a round kick when Del Rio holds on to the ropes. Del Rio goes to the floor and Bryan follows. Del Rio with kicks to Bryan. Del Rio with a hard Irish whip and then he kicks Bryan and gets a near fall. Del Rio with an arm bar. Bryan with punches but Del Rio with a head butt and then he kicks Bryan and gets a near fall. Del Rio with a side head lock take down into a side head lock.

Bryan with a knee to the midsection followed by kicks to the back and chest. Bryan gets a near fall. Bryan with European uppercuts but Del Rio with an Irish whip. Bryan with an elbow to Del Rio when he charges into the corner. Del Rio with an arm breaker from the turnbuckles for a near fall. Del Rio punches Bryan and then he kicks him and he returns to the arm bar. Bryan tries for a sunset flip but Del Rio blocks it and he applies an elbow drop to the arm. Del Rio kicks Bryan in the arm.

Del Rio with a near fall and then he applies a key lock before returning to an arm bar. Bryan with European uppercuts in the corner but Del Rio with another hard Irish whip and Bryan holds his arm. Del Rio with a baseball slide to the head for a near fall. Del Rio with another arm bar. Del Rio and Bryan with forearms and then he kicks Bryan in the arm and gets a near fall.

Del Rio returns to the arm bar. Bryan punches Del Rio in the ribs but Del Rio sends Bryan into the corner. Bryan with an elbow and boot to Del Rio when he goes into the corner. Bryan with kicks to the shoulder and head in the corner. Bryan flips out of the corner and hits a flying clothesline but Bryan still tries to get some feeling into his arm. Del Rio wit ha kick to the injured shoulder but Bryan back body drops Del Rio to the floor. Bryan goes to the apron and he hits the flying knee off the apron but Bryan holds his left arm.

Bryan sends Del Rio back into the ring and Bryan tries for a move from the top but Del Rio moves and Del Rio with a German suplex and bridge for a near fall. Del Rio puts Bryan on the top turnbuckle and Del Rio punches Bryan and then he sets for a super belly-to-back suplex but Bryan counters and almost gets a lateral press. Both men are down as we go to commercial.

We are back and Bryan with a kick but Del Rio with a punch. Bryan and Del Rio then exchange forearms until Bryan gets the advantage. Bryan with an Irish whip followed by a drop kick into the corner. Bryan goes up top for the missile drop kick and he hits it but he can only get a two count. Bryan with more kicks to the chest and Bryan tries for another one but Del Rio ducks it. Bryan avoids a few suplex attempts and then Del Rio charges into a boot. Del Rio tries for a tilt a whirl move but Bryan counters with a Guillotine choke but Del Rio runs Bryan into the corner. Del Rio with a suplex and then he puts Bryan in the cross arm breaker and Bryan taps out.

Winner: Alberto Del Rio

After the match, Del Rio continues to work on Bryan’s left arm and he reapplies the cross arm breaker.

From out of nowhere, Sin Cara comes ot the ring and he hits a head scissors followed by a drop kick and a cross body from the top turnbuckle to the floor. Cara checks on Bryan while Ricardo checks on Del Rio.

Matt Striker asks Mark Henry about his match with Sheamus at SummerSlam and we see some photos from the match. Matt asks Mark about his chances in the battle royal. Mark says that he is getting no respect. He should be the number one contender. He put out the Big Show and Kane. He drove Sheamus through a wall at SummerSlam but they put him in the same boat as everybody else. Mark says that he looks at this battle royal like a boat. With twenty men, the seas are gonna get rocky. Nineteen of those twenty men are going overboard and they are all gonna sink. We go to commercial.

We are back and Did You Know that a lot more people watched Smackdown last Friday than any other show on cable.

Match Number Four: Kelly Kelly and AJ Lee versus Natalya and Alicia Fox


Natalya and AJ start things off and they lock up. Natalya blocks an arm drag and AJ tries for a rollup but Natalya stays on her feet. Natalya picks up AJ and sends AJ into the corner. AJ kicks Natalya in the corner and she tries for a cross body off the turnbuckles but Natalya catches her. AJ with a head scissors take down. Natalya with an Irish whip and she sends AJ into the ropes and then Natalya drives AJ into the mat.

Alicia tags in and Alicia with a snap mare and Natalya with a kick to the midsection. Alicia with a knee to the midsection followed by a reverse chin lock. AJ with elbows but Alicia pulls AJ to the mat. Natalya tags back in and they hit a double suplex. Natalya gets a near fall. Natalya with a slap and then Alicia is tagged back in.

Alicia sends AJ into the corner and she chokes AJ with her boot. AJ fights out of the corner and she tags in Kelly. Kelly with a Thesz Press and then she spanks Alicia Kelly with a spinning and screaming head scissors take down followed by a bulldog. Kelly with the stink face. Kelly with a rana to Alicia for a near fall that is broken up by Natalya. Natalya and AJ fight on the floor. Alicia misses the Scissors kick and Kelly with a Fameasser for the three count.

Winners: Kelly Kelly and AJ Lee

After the match, Natalya wants to know what went wrong and then Natalya realizes that she lost to Alicia a few times. Alicia tries to plead her case and Natalya wants her to get out of her face. Alicia gets to the apron and Natalya with a forearm and then Natalya puts Alicia in a Sharpshooter on the floor and Alicia taps out because no match is going on.

We are back with a look at the SummerSlam festivities in Los Angeles.

Randy Orton makes his way to the ring to watch the Number One Contender Battle Royal from the announce table.

Before the match starts, we get the entrances of Sin Cara, Wade Barrett, Mark Henry, and Sheamus.

Match Number Five: Number One Contender Battle Royal (featuring Sheamus, Mark Henry, Jinder Mahal, Great Khali, Wade Barrett, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso, Ezekiel Jackson, Cody Rhodes, Justin Gabriel, Yoshi Tatsu, Heath Slater, Sin Cara, Ted DiBiase, Johnny Curtis, Zack Ryder, William Regal, Trent Barreta, and Tyson Kidd)


Khali protects Mahal while everyone else goes after Mark Henry but Henry pushes them off. Henry tosses Barreta into the air and then he eliminates him. Yoshi punches Henry but Henry with a punch and he eliminates Yoshi. Khali continues to protect Mahal. Cody punches Gabriel and Curtis is eliminated by Wade Barrett. Slater is on the apron and the Usos try to eliminate him but Slater returns to the ring. Cody and Gabriel battle. Kidd has Slater against the ring post. Khali chops Regal in the corner. Barrett kicks his former Corre and Nexus partner, Heath Slater. Ryder punches Cara and then they exchange forearms but Ryder charges at Cara and Cara hip tosses Ryder to the floor.

Jackson tries to eliminate Rhodes but Rhodes hold on and skins the cat. He doesn’t last much longer because Jackson clotheslines Cody to the floor. Jackson punches Khali and then he hits the running clothesline to Khali in the corner. Khali with a chop to Jackson when he charges again. Khali eliminates Jackson.

Barrett continues to work over Slater. Henry and Khali stare each other down and Henry pie faces Khali. Khali chops Henry in the head and Khali grabs Henry by the throat but Henry blocks him and then he slams Khali over the top rope to eliminate him. Mahal is not happy with what just happened. Sheamus hits Henry from behind and then he connects with a forearm and Henry rolls under the ropes to the floor.

Sheamus waits for Henry to get back into the ring and Slater climbs on Sheamus’ back. Sheamus sends him to the apron and then he knocks Slater off with a brogue kick. Henry picks up Slater and drops him on the ring steps while Orton watches and we go to commercial.

We are back and Gabriel and Cara are trying to eliminate Sheamus. We are missing William Regal who was eliminated during the commercial. Sheamus works over Tyson Kidd while Mark Henry walks around the ring. Jinder Mahal holds on to the ropes to avoid elimination. Sheamus tries to eliminate Kidd while Ted works over Jimmy Uso. Sheamus goes to the apron but Gabriel with a kick to Kidd.

Gabriel with a chop to Mahal but Mahal returns the favor. Sheamus with a knee to choke Mahal. Cara chops Gabriel in the ropes and then he hits a cross body that eliminates Gabriel while Cara holds on to the ropes. Henry picks up Gabriel and then he tosses Gabriel into the crowd. The Usos are eliminated at the same time. Jimmy Uso is Irish whipped into the ringside barrier while Jey is bieled over the announce table onto Josh Mathews.

Henry punches DiBiase and then he eliminates Mahal. Ted climbs on Henry’s back and Henry eliminates Ted.

We are down to five and Kidd has Cara on the ropes but Cara is able to send Kidd to the floor while holding on to the ropes.

We are down to four with Sheamus, Wade Barrett, Sin Cara, and Mark Henry.

Cara, Sheamus, and Barrett go after Henry but Henry pushes Cara away. Sheamus with knees to Henry in the corner. Barrett with a clothesline to Sheamus and then Barrett sends Sheamus over the top rope but Sheamus holds on. Sheamus brings Barrett to the apron and Sheamus and Barrett exchange punches on the apron. Barrett with a kick to Sheamus but Sheamus with a version of a Brogue Kick to eliminate Henry. Cara goes through the middle rope to the floor. Cara returns and he hits an enzuigiri. Cara is sent to the apron and Sheamus with a kick but Cara stays on the apron. Cara is dropped on the top rope and Cara is on the apron. Henry picks up Sheamus and eliminates him.

We are down to two and Cara goes up top and takes Henry down with a cross body but Henry sends Cara through the ropes to the floor. Henry picks up Cara but Cara with kicks to the leg and then he tries for a rana but that is a mistake. Henry sends Cara over his head and then Cara tries for a springboard cross body but Henry catches him and he hits the World Strongest Slam. Henry presses Cara over his head and he drops him to the floor and Henry wins the match.

Winner: Mark Henry

After the match, Henry goes to the floor and he has something to say to Orton as we go to credits.

Six nights before SummerSlam, the 1003rd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX. After hearing the ominous threat from Brock Lesnar last week that “The War Machine” would be seeing him before he is in Triple H’s corner at SummerSlam, Hall of Famer “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels will make an appearance on RAW. Also, before he defends the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam, WWE Champion CM Punk would go one-on-one with one of his two opponents on Sunday, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, in the opening match of the night!

Detailed Results

As promised, RAW kicks off with a non-title match as WWE Champion CM Punk went one-on-one with one of his two challengers in the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at SummerSlam, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show. In the middle of the match, Big Show hits CM Punk with the Spear, but both men are knocked down. With both Punk and Big Show down, the ever unstable Daniel Bryan comes out, screaming at Michael Cole and Jerry “The King” Lawler that he deserves to be in the WWE Title match at SummerSlam and, before long, Bryan would interject himself into the match. Bryan targets the WWE Champion, locking in the No Lock on CM Punk as Big Show stands by and watches his SummerSlam opponent get weakened. However, wanting a piece of CM Punk for himself, Big Show drops an elbow on Punk, which forces Bryan to let go of the hold. As both Big Show and Bryan prepare to do further damage, the third piece of the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title, John Cena, rushes out and takes “The World’s Largest Athlete” out of the ring before Daniel Bryan makes a run at Cena, but Cena clears the ring of Bryan as well. With SummerSlam opponents CM Punk and John Cena staring each other down in the ring, RAW General Manager AJ Lee skips to the ring, saying that Daniel Bryan may have ruined the opening match, but Bryan will make up for it in the main event when Bryan teams with Big Show to face the team of CM Punk and John Cena!

Backstage, the rarely seen JTG is talking with Kaitlyn and mentions that it is “crazy” that he does not have a match on RAW. However, AJ Lee overhears JTG’s use of the word, “crazy”, and promptly puts JTG in an impromptu match.

Per the orders of RAW General Manager AJ Lee, JTG would go one-on-one with “The Sin City Cyborg” Ryback on RAW. In another dominant victory for Ryback, “The Sin City Cyborg” hits Shell Shocked on JTG en route to picking up the win.

Six nights before he and tag partner Kofi Kingston defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Prime Time Players at SummerSlam, WWE Tag Team Champion R-Truth went one-on-one with Heath Slater. In the end, it was R-Truth hitting the Little Jimmy on Heath Slater en route to picking up the win. After the match, The Prime Time Players target R-Truth as Darren Young & Titus O’Neil rush to the ring, attacking Truth and leaving him lying in the ring.

“The International Sensation” was in action on RAW as Sin Cara went one-on-one with the dangerous Tensai, with Sakamoto in his corner. After using his speed and a miscue between Tensai and Sakamoto, Sin Cara would hit a tornado DDT on Tensai en route to picking up the win. After the match, Tensai would take the loss out on his worshipper, Sakamoto, dropping Sakamoto with a choke bomb before flattening him with the Tenson.

WWE Hall of Famer “Rowdy” Roddy Piper would make a special appearance on RAW as Roddy Piper would host Piper’s Pit and his guest was determined by the WWE fans as, via #RAWactive, the fans would choose between Chris Jericho, The Miz, and Dolph Ziggler with the fans overwhelmingly voting for Chris Jericho! Jericho would then make his way to the ring to sit down with the legendary and controversial Roddy Piper. Piper says that the last time that he saw Jericho, he was getting knocked out by Mickey Rourke, but Jericho reminds Piper that he defeated Piper at WrestleMania a few years ago. It would not take long for Jericho’s SummerSlam opponent, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, to interrupt as Dolph and Vickie Guerrero crash Piper’s Pit. Dolph says that Piper’s Pit has become “sad” before asking Jericho how many “failed comebacks” it takes before Jericho gets the hint. Ziggler continues that, after SummerSlam, Jericho will be “finished”. Jericho admits that he was not paying attention because he was busy staring at the “bowl of spaghetti” on Dolph’s head before telling Vickie to “shut the hell up”! Jericho says that, at SummerSlam, he is going to prove that he can still win the “big one” when he defeats Ziggler. The Intercontinental Champion then interrupts as The Miz enters Piper’s Pit as Miz reminds everyone that he won the Intercontinental Title a few weeks ago, saying that he does not care who the fans voted for because he is “taking over” Piper’s Pit, telling Jericho and the Hall of Famer to get out of the ring. Miz then tries to take the microphone away from Piper, but Jericho takes exception, hitting the Intercontinental Champion with a right hand before ridding the ring of Dolph and The Miz!

Per the orders of RAW General Manager AJ Lee, “Y2J” Chris Jericho, Intercontinental Champion The Miz, and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, would face off in a non-title Triple Threat Match. During the stellar match, Chris Jericho would hit the Codebreaker on Dolph Ziggler, but Vickie Guerrero would put Dolph’s foot on the rope, saving the match for her client. Shortly after this, Jericho locks in the Walls of Jericho on The Miz, but Vickie distracts the referee, who does not see Miz tap out. Vickie’s distraction would pay dividends as Ziggler would hit the Zig Zag on Jericho en route to picking up the win.

Before she faces Eve for the job as Booker T’s assistant on SmackDown, Kaitlyn would team with Divas Champion Layla to face Eve & Beth Phoenix. In the end, it was Kaitlyn rolling up Beth Phoenix to pick up the win for herself and Layla.

Before he defends the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam, WWE Champion CM Punk would team with one of his two challengers, John Cena, to face his other challenger, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show and Daniel Bryan. During the match, Big Show would grow tired of being bossed around by Daniel Bryan and would step off of the apron to watch the match from the outside. Later on in the match, CM Punk would mock John Cena, doing the Five Knuckle Shuffle and Cena would respond by doing Punk’s patented running bulldog! CM Punk would then abandon Cena as Cena would hit the Attitude Adjustment on Daniel Bryan en route to picking up the win for his team. After the match, CM Punk would hit the ring, blasting Big Show with the WWE Title belt. Instead of attacking Cena, however, Punk would extend his hand to Cena but would ultimately pull it away before walking away from the ring.

After taking Brodus Clay out last week, “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow went one-on-one with “Captain Charisma” Christian. During the match, Damien Sandow would look to be in control of the match, but Brodus Clay would come out. This distracts Damien Sandow long enough for Christian to get a roll-up on Sandow, but Sandow was able to kick out before hitting the straightjacket neckbreaker on Christian en route to picking up the win.

Before they go one-on-one at SummerSlam, the epic match would be made official as “The War Machine” Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in tow, would go face-to-face with “The Game” Triple H, with Shawn Michaels in tow, as both ring warriors would take part in the official contract signing for their SummerSlam match. With Triple H rumored to not be in the arena, Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman come to the ring as Heyman states that Triple H is not there due to flight delays and Lesnar believes that this is a legitimate reason. Heyman continues that Triple H “needs” the SummerSlam match because Triple H’s “personal dignity” is on the line when he faces Brock Lesnar. Heyman then reveals that he wants Triple H and Brock Lesnar to sign an agreement that will rid Lesnar of any and all responsibility for what happens at SummerSlam. Heyman continues that, at SummerSlam, Triple H will “suffer” at the hands of Brock Lesnar and Brock will end Triple H’s career. Heyman then says that Shawn Michaels disagreed with Heyman’s predictions last week, saying that, if HBK still thinks that Lesnar will lose at SummerSlam, then the Hall of Famer is welcome to come to the ring and tell Brock to his face. Heyman says that Michaels will not come out there, but there is no “shame” in being “afraid” of Brock Lesnar. However, Heyman continues to poke and prod at Michaels, even insulting HBK’s home state of Texas.

Shawn Michaels then reluctantly makes his way to the ring as Paul Heyman encourages HBK to sign on Triple H’s behalf, but before Michaels is forced to make a decision, Triple H arrives on the scene as “The Game” makes his way to the ring, ready to fight. The COO then looks in the eyes of Brock Lesnar as Triple H signs his part of the deal for the SummerSlam match. As Heyman repeatedly reminds Brock that it is just a “contract signing”, Brock signs the contract as well, tossing it at Triple H before he and Heyman walk out of the ring and out of the arena.

After the contract signing went off without incident, Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels is backstage with his friend, Triple H, as HBK advises Triple H that, even though he will be in the COO’s corner, Triple H will have to defeat Brock Lesnar on his own.

Backstage, an interview with Big Show is interrupted by the screeching of tires as Paul Heyman has apparently blocked Shawn Michaels’ exit from the arena. Brock Lesnar then pulls Shawn Michaels out of his car and Brock knocks the camera out as the sounds of a severe beating can be heard with Heyman shouting at Michaels to “tell Triple H”. Shortly after this, Triple H storms to the backstage area where “The Game” surveys the totaled car of Shawn Michaels before asking every Superstar and Diva on the scene where Michaels is with RAW General Manager AJ Lee informing the COO that Brock took Michaels! It was not long after this that Lesnar would walk to the ring with the Hall of Famer on his shoulders. Lesnar then drops HBK with the F-5 in the middle of the ring before Brock locks in the Kimura Lock on Michaels. Triple H then rushes out to save his friend, but Paul Heyman keeps “The Game” where he is at, threatening to make Brock break HBK’s arm if Triple H gets any closer. Despite Triple H’s compliance, Lesnar would shock everyone, including Heyman, as Brock uses the Kimura Lock to break Michaels’ arm anyways! Triple H then chases Lesnar away before “The Game” assists paramedics in tending to Shawn Michaels and an irate Triple H tells Brock to get back in the ring, but Brock stays back with a sick smile on his face, having crippled “The Heartbreak Kid”.

As the rivalry between Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler continues to intensify with Jericho determined to beat some respect into Dolph and show Ziggler that he has not lost his touch and things are bound to get intense when Jericho hosts The Highlight Reel with his guests, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler and Ziggler’s manager Vickie Guerrero. Also, per the orders of new SmackDown General Manager Booker T, Cody Rhodes will go one-on-one with “The International Sensation” Sin Cara.

On his second night on the job, SmackDown kicks off with the new General Manager of SmackDown and Houston’s own Booker T getting things started with a Spin-a-rooni. Booker says that it feels great to be back in his hometown, but, as the new SmackDown General Manager, there is a problem that needs to be addressed. Booker T says that, when World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus stole Alberto Del Rio’s Ferrari for a joyride around San Antonio on RAW, Sheamus “crossed the line”. The GM then demands that the World Heavyweight Champion come out there and apologize for the theft. Sheamus makes his way to the ring, saying that Del Rio said that he was not worthy of being the World Heavyweight Champion and Del Rio took his “dignity”, so he responded by taking Del Rio’s car. However, Sheamus says that what he did was a “crime” before the champion apologizes to Booker, the fans, and Alberto Del Rio. Before the show can go on, Alberto Del Rio interrupts, saying that Sheamus stole his car and Sheamus is a “thug” and a “criminal”. Del Rio says that he has contacted the San Antonio Police Department to file charges against Sheamus. Booker T informs Del Rio that, if legal action is taken against Sheamus, then Sheamus will be unable to defend the title at SummerSlam, but Del Rio says that he does not care. Del Rio continues that, when the champion acts like a “hooligan”, it reflects badly on the General Manager. Sheamus jumps in, saying that he has a “solution” before proposing that they not wait until SummerSlam and they have the World Heavyweight Title match tonight! Booker then leaves the decision with the #1 Contender, Alberto Del Rio, and Del Rio admits that, while everything in his head is telling him to wait for SummerSlam, he cannot and will not wait, saying that Sheamus is on! With SummerSlam coming nine nights early, who will walk out of SmackDown as the World Heavyweight Champion?

Per the orders of SmackDown General Manager Booker T, the opening match of the night saw Cody Rhodes go one-on-one with “The International Sensation” Sin Cara. Throughout the match, Cody Rhodes was obsessed with removing Sin Cara’s mask and it would cost Rhodes in the end as, when Rhodes went for the mask, Sin Cara capitalizes with a roll-up to pick up the win.

Nine nights before he goes one-on-one with Kane at SummerSlam, Daniel Bryan appears on SmackDown, screaming at the fans to stop chanting “yes”. Bryan then asks if they think he is nothing more than a catchphrase, saying that he deserves to be in the WWE Title match at SummerSlam, but instead of that, AJ Lee has ruined his life and put him in a match against Kane. Bryan says that he “deserves” better than being walked all over by “some skipping, Chucks-wearing, broad in a power suit and her overgrown, Frankenstein monster boy toy”. However, the barrage of insults is interrupted by the arrival of Kane, who makes his way to the ring. Both Kane and Daniel Bryan look ready to fight, but RAW General Manager AJ Lee comes out, revealing that Booker T invited her to SmackDown as a “special guest”. Lee states that she made the SummerSlam match because both Kane and Bryan are gifted athletes, but neither her nor Booker T can afford to have them coming out there attacking each other and screaming at the fans every week. AJ then tells Kane that it’s good to see him again, saying that she appreciates how “sweet” and “understanding” Kane was when other people were treating her miserably. The RAW GM then turns her attention back to Daniel Bryan, saying that Bryan should not use the fact that Kane is her friend and the fact that Bryan has never pinned Kane to drive his rage. AJ continues that Daniel Bryan should prove that he is not unstable and that he is a good sportsman before SummerSlam by shaking Kane’s hand. Bryan outright refuses to shake Kane’s hand, but once he is ordered to do so by the General Manager, Bryan extends his hand to Kane as AJ leaves the ring, winking at Kane. Following the wink, Kane delivers a right hand to Daniel Bryan, but Bryan briefly fights back before getting blasted with a big boot. Bryan then makes a quick retreat through the crowd, avoiding Kane for the time being. Meanwhile, on the staging area, AJ is laughing hysterically, saying that the setup was “great”!

In an effort to one-up Ryback, Jinder Mahal would face two unknown competitors in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. After taking some time to mock Ryback, Jinder Mahal would force one of the jobbers to tap out to the Camel Clutch to pick up the win. After the match, Mahal would trap both men in the Camel Clutch, but Ryback would come out. However, Mahal would quickly retreat and Ryback would send a message back to Mahal as “The Sin City Cyborg” levels both jobbers with a double Shell Shocked.

Then it was time for a rare SmackDown occurrence as, for the first time in nearly two years, Chris Jericho would host The Highlight Reel on SmackDown. Before Jericho can even introduce his guests, Vickie Guerrero interrupts, saying that she is out there to speak on Dolph Ziggler’s behalf. Vickie says that Dolph can win the “big one” and he is a future World Heavyweight Champion. Jericho says that, if Dolph is not there, then he has no problem interviewing Dolph’s “mother”. Jericho continues that Vickie looks good for her “age” and, after a screaming match between the two, Vickie threatens to walk off The Highlight Reel, but Jericho does not appear to care. Jericho then says that Vickie needs to relax before Jericho shows footage of him costing Dolph Ziggler his match against Alex Riley on RAW. Jericho says that Dolph cannot even win the “little one”, saying that, while Alex Riley is a great competitor, Riley had only won one match in 2012 prior to RAW. Vickie argues that Jericho does not have the “facts”, saying that it is a fact that Dolph knows that Jericho has lost his touch and Dolph will prove it when Dolph and Jericho go one-on-one at SummerSlam! Jericho says that he does not have to prove himself to anyone, but Dolph said something to him that made him think, saying that his record has not been great lately. Jericho continues that he decided that it was time for a “change” and it was time to bring “Y2J” back! The reinvigorated Jericho then proclaims that he is back, accepting Dolph’s challenge and saying that he will “never, ever” lose his touch again. Dolph Ziggler then rushes the ring, trying to get the better of Chris Jericho, but Jericho takes “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” down. However, a slap from Vickie Guerrero distracts Jericho long enough for Ziggler to hit the Zig Zag on Jericho before Dolph knocks Jericho out with a vicious shot with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase!

With WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston guests on commentary, new #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles would be named on SmackDown as Primo & Epico face The Prime Time Players, with A.W. in their corner. During the match, A.W. would throw water on the WWE Tag Team Champions, but R-Truth & Kofi Kingston would chase the manager into the ring as the team would attack A.W. and also get a few shots in on Titus O’Neil. This would make A.W.’s plan a success as The Prime Time Players would get the disqualification win, making them the new #1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Titles!

After defeating United States Champion Santino Marella two weeks in a row, “The Swiss Sensation” Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in his corner, went one-on-one with “Captain Charisma” Christian. During the match, Christian would go for a Spear on Antonio Cesaro, but Cesaro would counter, launching Christian into the air, delivering a vicious uppercut. However, the veteran would battle back, hitting the Spear on Cesaro en route to picking up the win. After the match, Cesaro would blindside Christian, attacking “Captain Charisma” on the outside before driving Christian spine-first into the ringside barricade!

Backstage, Eve again meets up SmackDown General Manager Booker T, but Booker again says that there are no jobs available for her. Booker’s Senior Advisor, Theodore Long, then brings Kaitlyn in, who asks for a job and Booker immediately names Kaitlyn his new assistant! However, Eve brings up contacting the Board of Directors and filing a complaint, but the GM resolves the situation by informing Eve that she will go one-on-one with Kaitlyn on next week’s SmackDown and whoever wins will be Booker’s new assistant!

The Intercontinental Champion was in action on SmackDown as The Miz went one-on-one with Rey Mysterio in a non-title match. In the end, it was Rey Mysterio catching The Miz off-guard with a roll-up to pick up the win over the Intercontinental Champion.

Before the scheduled World Heavyweight Title match can take place, a group of police officers make their way to the ring. While Del Rio originally tells the cops to leave because he wants his title match, the sly Del Rio smirks before instructing the fake police officers to attack Sheamus. While the champion stands his ground against the group assault, the numbers advantage would overwhelm the World Heavyweight Champion. With Sheamus helpless, Del Rio instructs the faux cops to hold Sheamus up as Del Rio repeatedly slaps Sheamus across the face before hitting an enziguiri on the champion. Del Rio then orders his hired guns to leave before Del Rio measures Sheamus, locking in the cross armbreaker on the champion, viciously ripping and tearing at the arm of Sheamus before finally letting go of the hold, leaving the World Heavyweight Champion in a heap in the ring.

Thirteen nights before SummerSlam, the 1002nd edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. The San Antonio crowd would be treated to a rare surprise as WWE Hall of Famer and San Antonio’s own “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels would make an appearance in front of his friends and family! As if in an appearance by the incomparable HBK was not enough, SummerSlam opponents Brock Lesnar and Triple H would be in the AT&T Center just under two weeks from their first ever one-on-one meeting at “The Biggest Event of the Summer”!

Detailed Results

After her stellar first night as RAW General Manager last week, making the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at SummerSlam, AJ Lee kicks the show off. The GM starts her second week off by announcing some big matches for RAW as Big Show will go one-on-one with Randy Orton and, for the first time ever on RAW, Daniel Bryan will face John Cena! Before AJ can finish her announcements, she is interrupted by the WWE Champion, CM Punk, who says that he lives his life with “zero regrets” and he is man enough to admit his mistakes. The champion continues that he regrets his actions last week, saying that, although he was “justified” in shouting at AJ, the General Manager does not deserve to be disrespected, just like the WWE Champion does not deserve to be disrespected. Punk then tells the GM that he is “sorry” and AJ accepts the apology before Punk continues that, while they are both out there, AJ should just “cancel” the Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at SummerSlam! The General Manager says that she is likely to make mistakes as the GM, but the Triple Threat Match is not one of them, proclaiming that her decision stands. The champion then makes things personal, saying that AJ should not be the “evil” General Manager just because he refused her marriage proposal several weeks ago and “humiliated” her in front of the world. Punk continues that the GM should not “stick it” to the guy that everybody likes all because he rejected her, again requesting that AJ cancel the Triple Threat Match.

One of CM Punk’s two challengers at SummerSlam, John Cena, then interrupts, saying that Punk has become “one of those guys”. Cena explains that Punk is one of those guys who come out and “demand” respect, saying that you don’t demand respect, you earn it. Cena continues that, just because CM Punk is the WWE Champion, it does not mean that he automatically gets respect, saying that he has held the WWE Title a record ten times in his career and he still fights for respect each and every night. Cena then says that Punk should blame himself for the Triple Threat Match since Punk got involved in the #1 Contender’s match last week, leading to both Cena and Big Show being named the challengers at SummerSlam. Punk says that he did not stick his nose in the #1 Contender’s match, saying Cenae got involved in his commentary last week. Punk continues that he will not be “disrespected” by anyone and he “saved” Cena last week as Cena was not going to be able to deliver the Attitude Adjustment to Big Show. Cena then says that the champion rarely fares well in a Triple Threat Match, saying that Punk is not likely to retain the title. Punk then reminds Cena that he was the winner at last year’s SummerSlam before Big Show interrupts the argument. However, AJ Lee was not going to let RAW get out of control on her watch, reminding both Cena and Big Show that they should be getting ready for their respective matches. Punk then demands that he be in the spotlight and the General Manager agrees, announcing that the WWE Champion will be in action, but AJ Lee says that the fans will determine Punk’s opponent as, depending on how the fans vote on Twitter, Punk will face Kane, The Miz, or Rey Mysterio!

The opening match of the night saw WWE Champion CM Punk go one-on-one with an opponent selected by the WWE fans as Punk went one-on-one with “The Master of the 619” Rey Mysterio in a non-title match. In the end, it was CM Punk hitting the GTS on Rey Mysterio en route to picking up the win.

Backstage, Alberto Del Rio meets up with RAW General Manager AJ Lee as Del Rio says that AJ understands that he does not wish to compete until SummerSlam. The GM says that she does not have anything scheduled for Del Rio, but after AJ exits, Del Rio mentions that he was worried that AJ would do something “crazy”. Sensitive to the term, AJ changes her mind, putting Del Rio in an immediate match on RAW!

Thirteen nights before he challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio, with Ricardo Rodriguez in his corner, went one-on-one with “Captain Charisma” Christian. During the match, Ricardo Rodriguez would distract the referee, allowing Alberto Del Rio to hit Christian with his boot before Del Rio locks in the cross armbreaker on Christian, forcing “Captain Charisma” to tap out. After the match, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus appears on the Tron as Sheamus discovers that Ricardo Rodriguez left the keys in Del Rio’s personal Ferrari. Sheamus then gets in the expensive automobile, saying that he is going to do some sight-seeing in San Antonio before the World Heavyweight Champion takes off in Del Rio’s ride!

Before he joins John Cena and WWE Champion CM Punk in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title at SummerSlam, “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show went one-on-one with “The Viper” Randy Orton. During the match, the fight would spill to the outside with Randy Orton trying to strike with the RKO, but Big Show would dodge it before hitting the Spear on “The Viper”. However, neither man would be able to get back into the ring nor the match would end in a double count-out. After the match, Big Show would toss Orton back into the ring, sizing Orton up for the W.M.D., but “The Viper” would duck the shot before hitting the RKO on “The World’s Largest Athlete”.

Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks would resume their determination to defeat Ryback as the team would face “The Sin City Cyborg” in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Despite the best efforts of Reks & Hawkins, Ryback would hit Shell Shocked on Curt Hawkins en route to notching another win in his undefeated streak.

The Prime Time Players were in action on RAW as Darren Young & Titus O’Neil, with AW in their corner, faced Primo & Epico. During the match, AW would try to get The Prime Time Players to walk out on the match, but WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston come out, leaving no escape for The Prime Time Players as Primo & Epico get Darren Young & Titus O’Neil back in the ring moments before Epico hits the Back Stabber on Darren Young en route to picking up the win for himself and Primo.

After assaulting Brodus Clay last week, “The Funkasaurus” was set to face “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow, but Sandow would attack Brodus Clay from behind on the staging area, pummeling Brodus before focusing on the already injured knee of Clay. Sandow then props Clay’s leg up on the steel ramp, delivering two vicious stomps to the knee before pulling and tearing at the knee. Several referees are then finally able to pull Damien off of Brodus, but the damage was already done to “The Funkasaurus”.

Backstage, General Manager AJ Lee is talking with Daniel Bryan, saying that she still believes that Bryan is not of his right mind. Bryan tells the GM that, after he defeats John Cena, AJ will have no choice but to add him to the WWE Title match at SummerSlam, but AJ informs Bryan that he already has a match at SummerSlam against Kane!

For the first time since May, Kelly Kelly was in action on RAW, going one-on-one with Eve. In the end, it was Kelly Kelly rolling Eve up with a hurrincanrana roll-up to pick up the win.

As promised, the hometown hero, the Hall of Famer, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels appeared live on RAW in his hometown of San Antonio! Michaels first thanks the fans for RAW 1,000 a couple of weeks ago before saying that he is content with just sitting at his ranch, watching the world go by, but he could not miss the opportunity to be a part of RAW in San Antonio. HBK continues that everyone in the back is clamoring about the much-anticipated match between Triple H and Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but the Hall of Famer is then interrupted by the arrival of “The War Machine” himself, Brock Lesnar, and his legal representative, Paul Heyman! Heyman says that it is no surprise that everyone wants to know Michaels’ opinion about Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar and Michaels has the right to weigh in, saying that HBK is the greatest “entertainer” in WWE history. Heyman continues that Lesnar is not heading into SummerSlam as an “entertainer” as Lesnar does not care about entertaining and he will “fight” Triple H at SummerSlam, adding that Brock is the “baddest dude on the planet today.” Michaels says that he is not there to dispute Brock’s accomplishments, saying that, at any other time with any other guy, Lesnar would have an advantage. HBK continues that Lesnar and Heyman have made things “personal” with Triple H, turning Triple H into a man he has not seen before. The Hall of Famer then says that, at SummerSlam, Triple H will defeat Brock Lesnar. Michaels then makes the blockbuster announcement that he will be in the corner of Triple H at SummerSlam! Heyman says that it is bad enough that Triple H’s wife and children will have to witness his demise, but Lesnar takes the microphone from Heyman, saying that the only reason that Michaels believes that Triple H will win is because, until now, HBK has never been in the ring with Brock. As Lesnar closes in on Michaels, Triple H interrupts and makes his way to the ring, taped up and ready for a fight. However, Brock Lesnar just laughs at Triple H before grabbing a microphone and offering the ominous warning that he will see Triple H at SummerSlam and he will see Shawn Michaels “before then”. Lesnar and Heyman then make their exit as Triple H does not take his eyes off of “The War Machine”.

With Chris Jericho a guest on commentary, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, with Vickie Guerrero in his corner, went one-on-one with Alex Riley. During the match, Chris Jericho would stand up on the announce table to record a Tout of Dolph Ziggler, distracting Ziggler long enough for Riley to roll Dolph up and pick up a huge upset!

Per the orders of RAW General Manager AJ Lee, the two men who did not get voted into the #RAWactive Match earlier in the evening would go one-on-one as “The Big Red Monster” Kane faced Intercontinental Champion The Miz in a non-title match. In the end, it was Kane planting The Miz with a chokeslam en route to pinning the Intercontinental Champion.

Then it was time for the main event as, for the first time ever on RAW, one of the two challengers for the WWE Title at SummerSlam, John Cena, would go one-on-one with Daniel Bryan. In the end, it was John Cena fighting out of the No Lock and planting Daniel Bryan with the Attitude Adjustment en route to picking up the win. After the match, WWE Champion CM Punk would make his way to the ring as Punk and Cena faced off, but Big Show made his way to the ring and Cena shoves CM Punk to the side and takes it to Big Show. However, when Cena goes for the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show, CM Punk strikes again, taking both Cena and Big Show down. The WWE Champion then exits the ring and puts a headset on at ringside, telling Jerry “The King” Lawler that maybe it is his fault that he has been disrespected because he has let himself get disrespected. Punk continues that he has been trying to make everyone happy and has let everyone walk all over him. Punk then vows to do what he does best, saying that RAW will end the same way it has ended the past two weeks with him holding his WWE Title high. Punk then concludes that anyone who stands in his way will be lying on the mat just like Cena and Big Show. The WWE Champion then heads back into the ring and tries to deliver a kick to Big Show, but Big Show catches Punk’s foot before leveling Punk with the W.M.D.! Big Show then measures John Cena before knocking Cena out with the W.M.D. as well and Big Show is the one left standing in the ring holding the WWE Title.

The much-anticipated announcement of a new SmackDown General Manager would kick off the show as WWE Chairman & CEO Mr. McMahon made his first SmackDown appearance in nearly three years. The Chairman states that it was difficult to select a new General Manager for SmackDown as the new GM would need to be someone who the fans “respect” and who has “charisma” and “experience”. McMahon continues that the new GM needs to be someone who is “authoritative” enough to make his own decisions and stand by them. The Chairman then introduces the new General Manager of SmackDown, none other than six-time World Champion Booker T! Booker then makes his way to the ring as the General Manager delivers his inaugural address, saying that SmackDown is going to “blow up”, but before Booker can make his first decision as General Manager, he is interrupted by the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio shakes the GM’s hand and congratulates Booker, saying that Booker must be happy to be working with Del Rio because he will be the next World Heavyweight Champion. Booker interrupts Del Rio, saying that if the #1 Contender is going to “suck up” to him, then he should at least not make it sound like a bunch of crap. The new GM continues that he heard what Del Rio had to say on RAW, that Del Rio believes that Sheamus is “beneath” him and that he will not compete unless it is a World Heavyweight Title match, but Del Rio cuts Booker off again as Del Rio reiterates that Sheamus is beneath him. Del Rio continues, saying Sheamus is nothing more than a “peasant” and a “red-headed hooligan”, but he has the “blood of champions”.

Del Rio is then interrupted by the World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus, who congratulates Booker and shakes the GM’s hand. The champion says that, unlike Del Rio, he actually means his congratulations before saying that he is “proud” of where he comes from and who he is. Sheamus continues that you will never see him taking three weeks off because he is afraid of breaking a nail. Despite Del Rio’s proclamation to not compete until SummerSlam, Booker T informs both champion and challenger that they will be in individual matches on SmackDown. Del Rio again interrupts the General Manager, saying that he does not care if it is Booker’s first night as GM and he does not care who Booker T is, he is not competing until SummerSlam. Undaunted, Booker T says that money obviously does not make Del Rio hear better because he is the “boss” and the boss is telling him that he will compete on SmackDown and Del Rio will go one-on-one with none other than “The Viper” Randy Orton! After Del Rio storms out of the ring, Booker T brings out Sheamus’ opponent, the scary and near unstoppable Tensai!

Per the orders of new SmackDown General Manager Booker T, the opening match of the night saw World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus going one-on-one with the destructive Tensai, with Sakamoto in his corner, in a non-title match. At the end of one of the most hard-fought matches in recent history, Sheamus was able to come out of nowhere with the Brogue Kick en route to picking up the win.

Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Booker T finds the former Executive Administrator of the Laurinaitis regime, Eve, in his office as the former Divas Champion asks Booker if he has any positions available in his administration. Booker tells Eve that he will let her know if anything comes up. Former General Manager Theodore Long then enters the office and, after congratulating Booker, the new GM wastes no time in making Long the new Senior Advisor to the General Manager! Not realizing that Eve was still standing behind him, Booker asks his new Senior Advisor to escort Eve out of his office, but Eve slaps Long’s arm away, storming out of the GM’s office.

In a rematch from last week’s SmackDown, “The Swiss Sensation” Antonio Cesaro, with Aksana in his corner, went one-on-one with United States Champion Santino Marella in a non-title match. During the match, Santino Marella would connect with the Cobra Strike, but with Antonio Cesaro’s leg under the bottom rope, the referee had to call off the three-count. This lucky break would give Cesaro a second chance in the match as Cesaro would fire back with the Gotch Style Neutralizer en route to pinning the United States Champion for the second week in a row.

SmackDown also featured a big 6-Man Tag Match as Chris Jericho teams with “Captain Charisma” Christian and “The Big Red Monster” Kane to face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler, Intercontinental Champion The Miz, and Daniel Bryan, with Vickie Guerrero in their corner. During the match, Vickie Guerrero gets on the ring apron to distract the referee as Dolph Ziggler enters the ring with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase. However, Chris Jericho cuts Ziggler off at the pass, hitting the Codebreaker on Dolph, but this allows Daniel Bryan to take advantage, rolling Jericho up for the win.

“The Sin City Cyborg” was in action on SmackDown as Ryback went one-on-one with Jinder Mahal in a rematch from last week’s SmackDown. Jinder Mahal would again find a quick way out of the match as Mahal pops Ryback with a microphone on the outside of the ring, earning Ryback a disqualification victory, but Ryback was irate over the cheap shot, but Mahal was long gone.

The WWE Tag Team Champions appeared on SmackDown as one-half of the tag champions, R-Truth, with Kofi Kingston in his corner, went one-on-one with Darren Young, with AW & Titus O’Neil in his corner. During the match, AW and Titus O’Neil would get involved in the match, but Kofi Kingston takes Titus O’Neil down before chasing AW to the back. This altercation distracts the referee, allowing Titus O’Neil to interfere, but the interference initially backfires. Kofi then rushes back to ringside, but is caught with a big boot from Titus O’Neil before R-Truth takes O’Neil down. Darren Young is then able to take advantage, hitting the gutbuster on R-Truth en route to picking up the win.

Then it was time for the main event as, for the first time in over two months, Randy Orton was in action on SmackDown as “The Viper” went one-on-one with the #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title at SummerSlam, “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio. During the match, Randy Orton was set to deliver the RKO, but Ricardo Rodriguez would got involved, causing the disqualification. After the match, Alberto Del Rio would zero in on the arm of Orton, trying to set “The Viper” up for the cross armbreaker, but the veteran Orton would fight back, sending Del Rio out of the ring. However, Sheamus would rush out, tossing Del Rio back into the ring, allowing Orton to hit Del Rio with the RKO!

With the world still reeling from RAW 1000, the 1001st edition of WWE Monday Night RAW came to you, live, from the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH. After shocking the world by attacking The Rock and laying “The Great One” out with the GTS to close last week’s RAW, this week’s RAW will kick off with WWE Champion CM Punk, who will explain his change of attitude and why he attacked the wrestler-turned-actor. Also, after interrupting her own wedding to Daniel Bryan to bring out WWE Chairman & CEO Mr. McMahon, who revealed the Diva as the new General Manager of RAW, what will AJ have in store for RAW on her first night as the red brand’s General Manager?

Anything can happen on a live show and, before RAW even began, it did happen as the show kicks off with Michael Cole & Jerry “The King” Lawler explaining that a pyrotechnic malfunction before the show caused a portion of the RAW set to catch fire! This fire delayed the fans’ entrance into the arena as fans were still filing in as RAW went on the air.

With the stage fire extinguished, RAW kicks off with the man who shocked the world last week by laying The Rock out with the GTS as WWE Champion CM Punk makes his way to the ring to explain his actions. Punk says that most Superstars talk about their WrestleMania moment, but, last week, he had himself a RAW moment. The champion says that he was “uncomfortable” with how RAW 1000 went off the air last week with Jerry Lawler proclaiming that Punk had “turned his back” on the WWE fans. Punk then leaves the ring and sits on the announce table to question the Hall of Famer, saying that The Rock is not the WWE fan base, The Rock is a “larger than life, extremely charismatic, delusional movie star” who showed him, the WWE Champion, an “incredible lack of respect”. Punk continues that The Rock acted like he was not even there last week and, when The Rock did talk to him, he informs Punk of his title match at the Royal Rumble and Rock acted as if he was just going to take the title away from Punk. The WWE Champion says that The Rock tried to make RAW 1000 all about him and so he showed The Rock the kind of man that “The People’s Champion” is dealing with. Punk then says that it is not a “popularity contest”, it is the WWE and he is its champion. Punk continues that, when The Rock was battling John Cena, you couldn’t shut The Rock up, but now The Rock has found his silence and he knows what that means. Punk then tells Jerry Lawler that, regardless of how it is spun, the 1,000th episode of RAW ended like every episode of RAW should end, with the focus and the spotlight on the WWE Champion.

“The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show then makes his way to the ring to confront CM Punk as Big Show says that, technically, ended with CM Punk, but the end of the show was really about him. Big Show explains that he was the one who cost John Cena the WWE Title and made Cena the first man in Money-in-the-Bank history to cash in the contract and not win a title. Big Show continues that CM Punk could not beat Cena even after Cena was knocked out and, had he not interfered, Punk would have tapped out in the STF. Big Show then says that the “only reason” that CM Punk is still the WWE Champion is because of him before the giant vows that he will be the next WWE Champion! Punk responds by saying that, between the two of them, the only one who is winning anything is him.

John Cena then rushes out and is in no mood to talk as Cena attacks Big Show, striking with lefts and rights, before Big Show decides to exit the ring. The brand new General Manager of RAW, AJ Lee, then comes out to make her first decision as the new GM, announcing that the main event will see John Cena going on with Big Show with the winner challenging CM Punk for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam!

The new #1 Contender for the World Heavyweight Title was in action on RAW as “The Mexican Aristocrat” Alberto Del Rio went one-on-one with United States Champion Santino Marella in the opening match of the night. In the end, it was Alberto Del Rio forcing Santino Marella to tap out to the cross armbreaker as Del Rio picks up the win. After the match, Alberto Del Rio proclaims that Santino Marella is “beneath” him, as is Sheamus and the WWE fans before Del Rio makes the bold decision that he will not compete again until SummerSlam when he challenges Sheamus for the World Heavyweight Title!

As Brodus Clay and Vickie Guerrero take part in an impromptu dance-off, they are interrupted by “The Intellectual Savior of the Masses” Damien Sandow, who shows footage of what happened to him at the hands of DX last week. The self-proclaimed “martyr” then attacks Brodus Clay from behind, stomping away at “The Funkasaurus”, leaving Brodus hurting in the ring.

For the first time since being left at the altar last week, Daniel Bryan confronts RAW General Manager AJ Lee in her office. The GM accuses Bryan of plotting to marry her just to get her committed to a mental institution, but Bryan argues that he was “committed” to marrying AJ. The GM then states that she is willing to start her regime on a “clean slate”. AJ then gladly informs Daniel Bryan that he will be in action against one of Bryan’s “favorite” opponents, World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus. Bryan asks AJ if it is for the title and the GM says “no” before AJ mocks Bryan by chanting “no” to his face.

Per the orders of new RAW General Manager AJ Lee, her estranged ex-fiancée, Daniel Bryan, would go one-on-one with World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and, as voted on by the WWE fans via Twitter, the week’s #RAWactive match would be a Street Fight! It wouldn’t take long for the fight to leave the ring as Sheamus would drop Daniel Bryan back-first on the steel ramp before driving Bryan face-first into the WWE logo. Daniel Bryan would manage to fight back, delivering several kicks to the skull of the World Heavyweight Champion, eventually knocking Sheamus off of the staging area to the concrete below as the champion apparently injures his ankle! Bryan then dives off of the stage, delivering a knee to Sheamus’ face. Later on in the match, Sheamus would land a suplex on Daniel Bryan on the arena floor. Sheamus then slides a steel chair and a kendo stick into the ring, but Daniel Bryan throws them back out of the ring. However, after Sheamus tosses Bryan to the outside, Bryan grabs a kendo stick and Bryan delivers several shots to the World Heavyweight Champion before setting up a steel chair in the corner of the ring. Sheamus would then wrestle the kendo stick away from Bryan, delivering a couple of shots to Bryan before Bryan delivers a dropkick to Sheamus, whose head collides with the steel chair! After Sheamus is able to kick out, Bryan grabs the chair again, but an angry Sheamus knocks Bryan down on the outside before the champion takes apart the steel ring steps. Bryan is still able to fight back as he counters Sheamus, sending the champion shoulder-first into the steel ring post. Daniel Bryan then slides the bottom portion of the steel steps into the ring before going back to work on Sheamus. Back in the ring, Sheamus and Daniel Bryan battle over the kendo stick with Sheamus getting the better of the situation. Daniel Bryan then avoids White Noise, but could not avoid the Brogue Kick of Sheamus as the World Heavyweight Champion hits the signature move en route to picking up the win!

Despite not being able to stand after his Street Fight against Sheamus, Daniel Bryan is lying in the ring and, despite the best efforts of referees, Bryan says that his neck is hurt, demanding he get a doctor in the ring. WWE Tag Team Champions R-Truth & Kofi Kingston then make their way to the ring as the champions say that they’ve got business to handle, so Daniel Bryan should leave. Daniel Bryan responds by punting R-Truth’s invisible friend, Little Jimmy, as Bryan says that R-Truth’s friend is an “imaginary child”. A group of mental hospital orderlies then come out and confront R-Truth, but AJ Lee comes out and orders the men in white coats to escort Bryan from the ring as the GM states that Bryan is “mentally unstable”!

It was revealed during RAW that, this Friday on SmackDown, WWE Chairman & CEO Mr. McMahon will be on hand to reveal the new General Manager of SmackDown!

The WWE Tag Team Champions appeared on RAW as Kofi Kingston, with R-Truth in his corner, went one-on-one with Titus O’Neil, with AW and Darren Young in his corner. During the match, Darren Young would try to distract Kofi Kingston, but R-Truth would take Darren Young down. However, this would distract the referee, allowing AW to throw his shoe at Kofi, distracting Kofi long enough for Titus O’Neil to hit the Lo Down on Kofi en route to picking up the win.

After being pummeled by legends for the past several weeks, most notably by Lita and The A.P.A. on RAW 1000 last week, “The One Man Band” Heath Slater appears on RAW to put out an open challenge to any “current WWE Superstar”. However, Slater got more than he bargained for as, after a two-month hiatus, “The Viper” returns to RAW as Randy Orton answers the challenge! The nine-time World Champion makes quick work of Heath Slater, hitting the RKO en route to picking up the win.

Former tag team partners would reunite on RAW as Chris Jericho teamed with “Captain Charisma” Christian to face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Dolph Ziggler and new Intercontinental Champion The Miz, with Vickie Guerrero in their corner. At the end of a chaotic match, it was a bit of payback for Christian as Christian delivers a thumb to the eye of The Miz, allowing Chris Jericho to hit the Codebreaker en route to picking up the win. After the match, there was no time to celebrate as Dolph Ziggler clocks Chris Jericho from behind with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase!

After getting defeated by Tyson Kidd last month, the destructive Tensai, with Sakamoto in his corner, went one-on-one with Tyson Kidd on RAW. In the end, it was Tensai hitting the Tenson on Tyson Kidd en route to picking up the win. After the match, Tensai would continue the assault, dropping multiple elbow drops on Tyson Kidd before laying Kidd out with a modified backbreaker. The referee of the match then makes the rare call to reverse his original decision, giving the victory to Kidd via disqualification! Tensai would again take his frustrations out on his devout worshipper, Sakamoto, slapping Sakamoto around and tossing him out of the ring.

Backstage, Daniel Bryan is declared “sane” by his assigned therapist, but Bryan is then met by his “anger management therapist”, Kane! Kane assaults Bryan, leaving him laid out!

WWE Champion CM Punk then takes a seat as a guest on commentary for the main event as John Cena goes one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show with the winner challenging CM Punk for the WWE Title at SummerSlam. During the hard-fought match, Big Show would side-step an oncoming John Cena, sending Cena into CM Punk, who was seated at ringside! Shortly after this, Cena would go for the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show, but CM Punk would enter the ring, attacking Cena from behind and kicking Big Show in the skull! The WWE Champion then states that neither man is the winner of the match because they are both “losers”. Then, in a scene similar to last week, CM Punk walks away from the ring. However, RAW General Manager AJ Lee comes out, saying that CM Punk is “wrong” because both Big Show and John Cena are “winners”. AJ then announces that, at SummerSlam, CM Punk will defend the WWE Title against John Cena and Big Show in a Triple Threat Match! This brings CM Punk back out, who argues with the GM over the decision, demanding that AJ show him “respect”, but AJ just smiles in the WWE Champion’s face, unaffected by CM Punk’s objections.
